Godzilla: King of the Monsters has started filming

The sequel to the 2014 film Godzilla, this film will see our favorite movie monster facing off against some of his most famous enemies: Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

interesting that there will be a 5 year gap between the last godzilla movie and this one, considering other franchises tend to have at most a 2 year gap between films.

because people were generally unhappy with godzilla's opponent in the first one, so they need to have his big name adversaries/cohorts. Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra are easily the most famous.
They'd be better off with Mechagodzilla over Gamera.

Gamera is the property of a different Japanese production company.
The American movie only got the rights to Godzilla with none of the other Toho monsters for the 2014 film, which is why they had the pretty shitty Mutos as villains.
Could you imagine the trouble of trying to get the rights to Toho's King of Monsters (Godzilla) and Daiei's Guardian of the Universe (Gamera) for one film?

He is another company's analog to Godzilla, when they tried to cash in on the success of Godzilla.
But Gamera can fly, both like a flying saucer and as a jet. It's crazy.
Many of the early Gamera movies are pretty shitty, but the three that came out in the late 90s are some of the best kaiju movies out there, in my opinion.
