I have only seen one part of this movie, which is the Alec Baldwin "motivational" speech, but how good is this movie? The cast looks excellent. Just wanted to get some opinions.

The movie is really good, but not for everyone. There is little to no action. It's completely dialogue-driven and well written in that regard. Superb cast.

Are there other parts of levity in the film? I understand it's a drama, but Baldwin was hilarious even though he was not trying to be. How much is Baldwin in the rest of the movie? I heard the character he portrays isn't even in the play, so I could see him not being in it alot.

I checked for this on Netflix after witnessing the greatness of BMW 7 series on the OT...

not on watch instantly, I was kind of suprised.

That is Baldwin's only scene. It is perhaps the greatest one-scene performance in any film. He friggin' owns it.

The movie is great. Depressing as all hell, but great.

whole film is great, imo. Pacino has some good scenes.

And thus the reason why it's a great movie. It was originally a Mamet play that he eventually made into a movie. Mamet is the best and this is a good example why.

written by Mamet for him

Saw at Steppenwolf a few years back. GREAT play to see live.

I hated it, except for that speech, so as far as I'm concerned you've seen the whol thing

I agree with every word of this post, and that doesn't happen often.

Not a whole lot more to be said. I say watch it and post your feedback afterwards. But remember, coffee is for closers.

I liked it. The acting was good as people said. I thought Ed Harris might have "over acted" though. That was the only weak spot, imo.

the baldwin speech was awesome

Yea. When Ed Harris is sitting there getting yelled at by Baldwin, it almost looked like he was about to crack up laughin. I wonder how much they kept in and how many times they had to cut due to them lol.

ETA: Baldwin looked like he fed off of them laughin bc he was not Fn with them.

It's one of those films that doesn't draw you into it. You have to be interested in the subject matter to enjoy it, that being sales. If you have ever been in sales, you'll have a much better appreciation for the movie.
