Unless they want to avoid the NFL, I'm guessing the season will premiere in September next year

No chance they go head to head with the NFL

Earliest would be spring of 2019

They way I see it, HBO has three options.

1. Go up against the NFL and The Walking Dead with a September premiere date.
2. Wait after the Super Bowl, but still take on The Walking Dead.
3. Wait until April 2019.

They must really want me to cancel my HBO subscription for a year and a half.

I'm thinking they wait until April 2019 because of ratings.

Yeah unfortunately it does look like were going to have to wait almost a year and a half...

Man do you know how hard its going to be to have to go on a year and a half moratorium from leaks??!!!

No way they can hold everything under wraps for that long

It is just a month later than when they started filming 7.

I bet it comes out mid summer 2018. HBO won't want to wait longer than that IMO.

I'll take GoT over NFL. Last season of an epic series vs another season of a bunch of guys running around colliding with one another. Easy choice for me.

I'm not as optimistic about summer 2018, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind. The ratings have certainly been nice without having to compete against the NBA/NHL playoffs. I also don't see them wanting to compete against football.

How about a ref, specifically Terry McCaulay.

It's 6 episodes. It could start in August and pretty much be done by the time nfl starts.

I bet they aren't worried about the NFL though. IMO

Each episode is 1.5-2 hours long. It's still going to be a normal episode except with wayyy more post production work due to millions of white walkers, dragons, and people fighting. Zero chance this happens next summer

They have said they could see the episodes being longer however the pace of this season says other wise.

There isn't any official run times for any season 8 episodes.

HBO also doesn't have another show to keep people subscribed and the money flowing in. They will want to get it out as soon as they can.

This isn't fat man writing a book. I could be wrong but I guess time will tell.
