This episode was one of the most satisfying episodes, for me anyways. And it wasn't just the epic battle at the end. We finally got Tyrion meeting up with Dany, which they hit out of the park. We got Sansa finally finding out about Rickon and Bran, which I also thought both Sophia and Alfie both were great with their scene. We got confirmation that Valyrian steel is indeed Dragonsteel (although that was pretty much known). And we got a strong hint that Jon is indeed Azor Ahai (or at least a third of Azor Ahai). Arya's and Cersei's scenes were the weakest, but even those moved those character's storylines forward.

Exactly. This episode was the complete package. And honestly, I really loved the Cat in the Canals, especially how they shot it.

What end results? I think they saw how popular it was and decided to do another battle episode.

This is a perfect battle. It was perfectly done. The battle was exactly as long as it needed to be. It was a better episode than Watchers on the Wall by a long shot.
Well, I'm glad it perfectly fit your specific requirements for episodic satisfaction. I liked it too, but Watchers involved several more characters that I knew and gave a shite about. To me, far more was at stake.

I did enjoy the irony of D&D inserting yet another strong female character into the episode, only to have her downfall be her unwillingness to fight creatures in child form because her "woman-ness" wouldn't allow her to do so.

Same here. I thought the whole Cat of the Canals scene was very well done and captured the spirit of that episode from the books perfectly and with economy.

Here's one nitpick - though not really that - more of an observation:

I thought it was funny that the Septa was coercing Cersci by holding back water when the whole time there was a steady drip of water right behind her.

The "not letting her sleep and checking every hour for a confession" from the books was better. But I guess that would have been hard to portray on film.

Big swing and a miss though Dorne has been largely boring to me in the books as well. There is not a redeeming character in Dorne in the show. They have completely stalled Jaime's arc. Sending him there was a major miss even though I appreciate the effort in sending Bronn. Nice attempt, terrible execution.

Yes it has, but i think that is because they completely screwed up the story lines by leaving out the two best point of views- Arianne and for the most part Doran himself. They are completely missing the whole dynamic between Doran and Arianne which is a huge issue.

No I didn't know what was going to happen, aside from the fact I was pretty sure Jon was going to survive. But that's where the tension lies. Jon could have stayed back at Castle Black and accepted the horrifying inevitability of the Others taking about 5,000 more wights into their service.

The tension is "will Jon be able to convince the Wildlings to go with him, and if so how many"? Would he only be able to get a few dozen off before they came? Would it result in a battle with the wildlings? Could the Others walk across the water and take over some of their ships? Is it possible they could get everyone? See, that's tension. Is their mission going to be successful or now? To be honest, it looks as if he came too late for the most part. That's why the battle was intense.

I was a Hodor at the time, and while I was sure Tyrion would survive, I wasn't sure about really anyone else. I wanted Stannis to take King's Landing, but really it was simply Tyrion that made me conflicted about it. I was honestly unsure who would win in the end, since Tyrion could have made a quick escape. There was a lot of tension and conflict in that battle.

Ummm, it was the lowest critically rated episode of the season, so not really. My mouse is having trouble copying and pasting, but it was certainly the least critically acclaimed episode of the season

No, far more was not at stake in Watchers on the Wall. If the Wildlings win, they stay and fortify the Wall, and really likely stand a better chance than the Night's Watch did alone.

All of humanity is at stake in this episode. This episode makes it clear that humanity is pretty screwed at the end of this battle and our heroes are blind and have their work cut out for them. That is why everyone is saying "Holy frick" at the end of this episode is because this episode solely shows more than any other what is actually at stake. That's why it is intense and why there is so much tension with Jon and the Night's King "Come at me, Bro" scene.

I can't agree with that - the Hodors' position (when they stop drooling) is that if you read ANYTHING other than the Game of Thrones wiki, the Hodor thread or watch anything about the show, other than the show - you're a "reader".
