Yeah, that's exactly why I thought Gendry was being brought back. Maybe he still will get to be the blacksmith of the army of life.

Anybody else find it absolutely hilarious that now, all of a sudden, bookreaders are worrying about spoilers and whatnot? Now obviously most of them are good people who left us be, but for years some of them spoiled shite left and right for us nonreaders. But now they are trying to avoid spoilers and worried about leaks and shite because they don't want to be spoiled on the rest of S7 or S8. Hell, I even had someone from here email me once with spoilers for like the rest of the (current at the time) season that was airing a few years ago. But I bet that same person is now hoping that nobody spoils the rest of the show for them.

It was all fine and dandy when they knew what was gonna happen and they could brag about it to us in these threads. I dunno, I just find it hilarious that the tables turned a bit, especially after the HBO hack situation.

Your sensitivity to this issue is what's funny.

I think the animosity arose when at one point supposed bookreaders were banned for simply posting in a reader thread. And the amount of crying/fighting/bitching that took place throughout it all between two groups.

Yes, leaks exist and many don't want to know them. But it's nowhere at the level of the attitude that some non-readers had especially during seasons 3-5. At this point, most people know what to post and where. Nothing really "hilarious" about a few people hoping not to be spoiled.

I assume you mean nonreader thread. But to my knowledge a simple post didn't get anyone suspended. Spoilers, sure. And that used to happen a lot more than it should. Most bookreaders were courteous enough to sit back and not frick with the nonreader thread. But some just couldn't stop themselves, which led to people trying to guide us nonreaders when it was never wanted in the first place.

I disagree. Readers (the ones partaking and being assholes) always seemed so smug about having the upper hand or being in the know due to having read the books. And they had no problem dropping little hints here and there or trying to make "predictions" based on what they knew to be true. Yet now those same people are very likely trying their best to not be spoiled now that they aren't sure what is going to happen (by people "in the know" who have seen/read the leaks).

I think that is pretty funny. You don't, and that's fine.

It never happened to me, but I remember multiple help board threads complaining about it.

I'm not saying y'all shouldn't have been pissed by it.

Are you calling out specific people here or lumping in all readers together? Which posters are you talking about that spoiled y'all and are now trying to avoid them?

It seemed you directed your delight (smugness) toward all or most readers is all. A little hypocritical, imo. You even said something like "although most were cool, it's funny that they're all trying to avoid spoilers now". And you're about 3 years late with this hot take anyway. There have been deviations from the books and spoilers since the 4th season with people here from both sides trying to post without knowing them.

The ones that couldn't stay out of the threads with their bullshite. Those specifically.

It does delight me that the ones trying to ruin things for nonreaders are now in the same boat. Most of the readers were cool, at least I assume so. I don't know how many readers there are, but I know Hugo used to have a pretty long list of them, and I know the reader threads are always pretty damn long. So I assume there have to be a good amount of people participating, unless every thread is just OML bitching about how he would've written things. So assuming that there are a ton of readers, there were maybe like 5-10 (maybe more, but not many more if so) that couldn't help themselves from trying to guide people, or in some situations flat out spoil things for people.

Also, I specifically said, several times, that it's the ones who were assholes that I am talking about...the ones trying to guide us, or dropping hints, or making "predictions" that they knew to be true, etc. I differentiated them numerous times, and separated them out from all readers.

Deviations, sure. But there were still things from the books littered throughout the show. It's not like now, where the vast majority of things happening are new. And it's not even a hot take, which is a horribly overused phrase around here.

And here I am, arguing with (whom I presume to be) a reader. In the nonreader thread. A little ironic, but then again no so much I guess.

That's what I mean about the sensitivity to even a supposed reader posting here regardless of content. Yes... the irony. Especially when you admit that the show is completely new to everyone now.

I didn't say that. I said the vast majority of things are new. And I said that intentionally since there are some book things still present here and there I assume.

For someone who keeps trying to pin some double talk on me, you sure are misquoting me quite a bit.

If I say it's all new does that count as a spoiler?

I don't think you know what double talk is. Hypocrite, yes.

If you guys want to have a bitchfest on book readers vs non-book readers and spoilers, then start a new thread and leave it out of an episode thread.

To be fair, a lot of them have been waiting for the ending for years, and some have been waiting since 1996. Can you imagine being invested in this series for more than 20 years only to have someone ruin the final season in a Youtube comment?

Fair enough. I disagree, but we don't have to agree.

It's pretty clear that Gilly was reading about Ragger and Sam cut her off.

If he doesn't cut her off I bet the record goes on to say that Lyanna and Ragger had Jon

Can I come back to the Hodor thread? This may be the only safe space left and we don't have a middle ground thread anymore!
