Am I the only one that recognizes "you win or you die" 1:7 as an incredible episode. I think it represents the series better than any other.

That makes an honorable mention. Was thinking I was going too crazy on Season 1 though.

Beyond the action scene, why does it rank so high? Action scene was great, especially because the show moves so slowly, any action is welcome. Take away the fighting scene and it's just like every other dull episode this season.

You and I watch GoT for completely different reasons. I loved the Dany/Tyrion scenes almost as much as the battle. I'd rather watch two characters on GoT talk than watch the set pieces....even as great as their battles look.

I have yet to see a bad episode of GoT. I don't really know where this one ranks all time, but it's probably a top 6-7 episode for me.

Season 1 is by far the best season. Every other season focuses too much on splooging the last 3 episodes

Please tell me you agree with me that Episode 9 of last season was pretty much "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" in television form.

There're plenty of flaws in Blackwater if you wanna nit pick it. To say this is much weaker than Blackwater is just a lie.

Tyrion becoming Danny's adviser and Sansa learning the truth about her brothers from Theon were pretty huge

Then please point out why. As I said with Hardhome, not a wasted scene and there is actual tension. I really think people just give the Watchers on the Wall a pass because it is a big battle with incredible special effects. I don't think it is a horrible episode or anything, I just don't see what's so great about it. Only one great character scene, and that Ygritte's death. Don't mention the battle and tell me what is about the episode.

Keep in mind I haven't directly mentioned the battle yet in Blackwater. I think the episode is so much more than that and any scene can be described in depth as worthwhile.

Red Wedding just reeled me right the frick in. I was lucky enough to not have it spoiled and unlucky enough to have Ned Starks death spoiled so I reacted differently to those two.

That being said I'd have to include Hardhome in my top 3 for one glaring reason. The pacing of this season. The battle for hardhome and the destructive force of the walkers was completely unexpected. The dogs started barking, the dust started kicking up, and the hairs went up on the back of my neck. my mouth was open and eyes glued to the screen for that twenty minutes of frozen arse kickery and I'll never forget being caught off guard like that. That's one of the things I love most about this show, missing the foreshadowing moments and being caught unawares.

I was buzzing through Breaking Bad pretty quickly, but when I came around that episode, it took me 4 days of torture to get through it. Haven't done a rewatch yet, but I think that was overall the worst episode. Maybe I'm wrong, but that episode is a chore the first time through. I'm here to watch Walt and Jesse cook meth, not do pointless bullshite.

You may have misread my post. I wasn't talking about the battle at the Wall. I was only comparing Blackwater to Hardhome. I think every battle has been great. Hardhome easily looked the sleekest of the three. I'm just saying none was vastly superior to the others.

Nvm..I actually misread your post.
Didn't see that yall were comparing Watchers on the Wall to Blackwater. Either way, I still don't think Blackwater is flawless, and I still don't agree that the Wall was much weaker than Blackwater.

Damn, I did. I think the Battle at Blackwater was every bit as good as Hardhome, and vice versa. Both did exactly what they needed to do, and they were intense and exciting. Sorry I misread that.

It's top 5 for sure, but my favorite is still the one from last season with warged Hodor breaking necks and the (fooking) Legend of Gin Alley.

I don't like the WWZ zombies either.
