The observers haven't been involved much here lately... I'm assuming they will have a great deal to do with the season finale and series finale...
I'm feeling like they are the first people; interdimensional travel; time travel; etc... Playing the role of the IRL annununaki theory

The observers are watchers, they show up, stand in the background of important events.. Observing, and watching, that is all. Don't worry about them, they are unimportant

You learn a lot in season 2-3: without either of them you wouldn't have ANYTHING in season 4-5. The emotions, the relationships, the feelings, the understanding.. all of it, comes from seasons 2-3
Needless to say.. I'm excited to see this trip from someone again

I know, it always bugs me when people try to look to far into Fringe and say it's about anything other than the story of Gene. I mean, it was so blatantly obvious that the whole show was about her, I wish people weren't so blind to the troof.
