Outside of the pilot episode where Carell is doing a poor man's Brent, I really don't think it's a comparison that needs to be made. David Brent was around for 12 episodes and a TV special. Michael Scott was around for almost 150 episodes.
Two different animals entirely. Both great characters, just very different (in large part due to the nature of where they were broadcast).
