I just started the pilot. 40 minutes in and I'm floored by how good the writing is on this show. In such a short time, I have a full understanding of every character, like them, and care for them. The dialogue is clever, charming and smart.
After finishing HBO's 'The Night Of' last night, this further proves how awful the writing was on that show. They couldn't do in 8+ hours what Firefly has done in less than an hour.
Really looking forward to the rest of this series.

Firefly is awesome. The only problem is as you are enjoying the greatness it is hard to get not be sad there are so few episodes.
The two hour movie at the end is pretty good as well.

I'm confused, I'm angry, and I'm armed.
I envy that you are about to enjoy this for the first time. A word of advice: don't binge watch. Savor each episode like a fine glass of wine. The writing is superb and you'll miss lots of little things if you don't watch closely.

SyFy channel totally blow Firefly, started out by playing the episodes out of order and if I remember correct changed the time and date on the show mid way though the 14 episodes produced.
Aired episode 2 first and ran on Fridays, skipped a week and changed air date in mid Oct., then didn't run the last 3 episodes after airing the first 11 until July 2003.
SyFy missed the boat on this show and is still in the top 5 shows all time cancelled to soon.

when you get done you need to watch serenity
it ties up a bunch of threads and storylines left dangling and on it's own is a first class sci fi movie
