Absolutely the worst ending of any series I have watched. I loved the series and recommend it to all with the caveat they stop after season 7.

Agree or disagree? I just thought it was awful. Someone made a Hitler you tube vdeo on it.

Disagree, should stop at 5.

1-4 was outstanding television and 4 is one of the best single seasons of any show I've watched. 5 slipped a bit but I was still intrigued by the Jordan Chase storyline (didn't really care much for lumen). 6 started kinda going off the rails and I have thankfully erased 7 and 8 from my memory as far as what they're even about. I will never forgive the show for the very last scene, just flat out inexcusable.

Very good synopsis. It was my favorite show. I even enjoyed 5 & 6. I was in denial during Season 7 and when 8 started I realized it was done. I literally would sit down pissed off knowing I was going to hate that week's episode. The finale was as bad as I ever seen. Funny thing, I would have instantly loved it if they ended with a shot of Hannah walking up on Harrison messing with some dead animals. But nope, we get Wolverine Dexter who somehow survived being miles offshore, with no boat, in a hurricane. It was an abortion.

Deb should have just shot Dexter either before or after she shot LaGuerta and rolled final credits.

There's an outside shot that Nolan stole the ending of the third Batman movie from the last Dexter episode

My wife and I just finished Dexter this week after starting around Thanksgiving. I agree with 1-4 being awesome and 5 being pretty good. Hannah is hot, but I was pissed that Dexter let her eff everything up costing Deb her life; Dexter from Seasons 1-4 never would have done that.

agreed except once you make it 7 seasons I think you pretty much have to watch the 8th no matter what just to finish what you started

the last episode was terrible. i heard that the series ended horribly. i didn't want to believe people. i had to finish it myself.

what a terrible way to end a pretty decent series.

I would normally agree, but in this case literally any ending you imagine in your head is better than what happened. If I could do it all over I would watch all of season 8 except the last episode.

Finale was horrendous. Entire last season was really bad. I recommend people stop after season 4. 5 isn't terrible, but doesn't really fit with prior seasons. It gets progressively worse from there. 1-4 are quality and wrap together nicely.

I could live with that.

I could live with a great deal of things... including

Dexter getting caught by his own and the final shot is him in a cell on death row

Him making it to Argentina (although I agree this would be pretty inappropriate based on what he did)

Even his plane going down on his flight to Argentina.

The options are endless.

what if somebody turned the tables on him? he was captured by a serial killer who only kills bad people. the show ends with him being on someone else's table.

They sure are! And for some reason the writers went with option quadruple Z: Have Dexter turn into the Brawny paper towel man and give 8 years worth of loyal viewers a shite eating look into the camera in silence somewhere on a logging mission in the northwest.

Frick the writers now I'm in a bad mood.

Season 7 ended so horribly I can safely say I never watched season 8. Last month I read the synopsis of 8 on Wikipedia and it made me sad to read the episodes, They were completely bizarre given the first 4 seasons of Dexter.

The Trinity Killer season is one of the best seasons of any TV serious. Better than any Breaking Bad seasons that's for damn sure.

It really is ashame it dropped off that hard. Has anybody read the books?
