i watched this last night. i really liked it but hated the ending. now that's a personal choice and largely, directly related to my mental state.

i don't watch movies about people fricking with black magic to find redemption. i watch these movies to see people frick around with things they shouldn't end up paying the eternal price.

also, i thought that all the frickups (him dying before they could "complete" it and her leaving) were 100% setting up some cruel, dark punishment against her.

everything up until the final few minutes was truly excellent, however. they did a great job building up the tension between the characters and whether or not anything was going on.

I get what you're saying about the ending and I can see how this ending may turn some people off

however, in films about grief and suffering, etc, I don't mind if the protagonists "win. I don't see how it could have ended any other way than for her to have some kind of relief.

yeah i am completely biased due to my expectations (of the genre) and my personal feelings/attitude last night

however

i wish they would have gone a little further into her history/psychology if redemption was the goal. like 10 minutes sprinkled around

"i don't do forgiveness"....but why? seems like we needed to know a little more if that was the ultimate resolution of the character
