Saw last night. Story was kinda stale but Denzel is easily one of the greatest of our time. How this guy gets into character is unbelievable Saw Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea as well both performances were well done but Denzel's was better.

I saw it last weekend. Fantastic film. Didnt feel like I was just watching Denzel Washington. He got way deep into that character. Really enjoyed it.

I was ready to give Affleck all of the awards, but then I read up on his subhuman behavior. I know it doesn't change the fact that he gave a great performance, but frick that guy, and frick Damon and big brother for acting as a PR shield for that a-hole.

I think Affleck was better overall as he carried the whole movie. Fences for me, was a better movie and Viola Davis was the standout....she was flawless.

I appreciate Denzel Washington as an actor, but this performance was Kabuki. His performance on Broadway was over-wrought at best. James Earl Jones did a much better job in the role.

I thought he did amazing. Overall, I found the movie boring and probably would not recommend, but he kept me tuned in the entire time (which was pretty much just him talking the whole movie) and not many actors could do that for me.

I enjoy Denzel more when he does one of those kill everybody movies

or something to do with transportation oddly enough - trains, subways, planes, even a ferry capsizing - liked all of them

Certainly describes SLJ. Not sure if it describes Denzel.

20 minutes into the movie I was ready for Denzel to shut up. It was exhausting to me. It was a play, made into a movie, that still felt like a play. Just not my cup of tea.

I agree, it felt like a play being filmed by somebody in the audience. It seemed like Denzel forgot that he wasn't on the stage and didn't need to project himself to the back of the room. He's a good actor but he Denzel'd that one too much for me.

Watched last night. This was the best movie I've seen in a long time.
