After watching the new Mission Impossible trailer and seeing Tom Cruise do that amazing airplane stunt, I had to ask what is your favorite Tom Cruise movie(s)? Or for some of you, which one do you hate the least?

Rain Man

The Color of Money

Mission Impossible 1,3,4

Rock of Ages (hey, I'm an 80's geek. Proud member of Generation X)

Top Gun

Edge of Tomorrow

Top Gun, easily.

It's just so perfectly 80s. And infinitely quotable.

Collateral. Easily my favorite performance of his.

The alleyway scene, and the shootout in the club

Minority Report
Edge of Tomorrow (not necessarily for Cruise)
Top Gun
Legend (not necessarily for Cruise)
Vanilla Sky

ETA:

Only get to choose one? Probably Minority Report.

Taps (essentially the first significant film for both Cruise and Penn - in a support role, Cruise almost steals it.)

Top Gun

Collateral (his best performance to date)

Tropic Thunder (a cameo on steroids, but I really enjoy the film and his role in it)

Color of Money (unlikeable guys like him, Pine, Bale, would do well to stay with antagonist or at least intentionally unlikeable protagonists)

Rain Man (he could have looked bad opposite Hoffman, but he held his own)

ETA: A Few Good Men - probably the best overall Cruise movie - should have been in my initial list. Everybody nailed it and that helped tremendously - Jack did steal the show, though.

Jerry McGuire (the closest I've come to liking a character played by Tom Cruise)

shite... Forgot about Magnolia.

I guess it was his ability to not overtake the movie.

PSH, Cal Naughton, Jr. - that movie was loaded with talent. I could have listed Magnolia as well. One of his best performances, along with Collateral, IMHO.

Rain Man is OK, I guess. I don't really care for any of his films. He's on my list of the Top 5 People I'd Like to Pop in the Balls.
