You should watch the Family Feud skit on SNL with him and Timberlake playing him. Justin nails it.

NBC is forking out the big guns to make sure Fallon doesn't shite the bed, and they have to wrangle in Leno again

Fallon didn't get Seinfeld, NBC did

I have a feeling that some people would just hate any Tonight Show host, no matter who it is.

He's awful. The upward trajectory of his career is one of the greatest mysteries in entertainment.

This. There will never be another Carson. Old people need to let it go...

Did Fallon ever do standup? Is he an actual comedian?

I'm pretty sure a large portion of people who posted in here are young. I'm 26 and think Fallon is a fricking hack. The Tonight Show writing is terrible

I think that perhaps some view the above brand of comedy/entertainment as somehow being beneath The Tonight Show and that every (successful) host most follow the standard formula. I would agree that Fallon can be successful, but only if they let him be him and allow him to do the skits and musical comedy that he is known for.

He is not a comedian. If he had no guests to save his ungodly monologues, he would be booed of the stage every single night.

Fallon's monologue was funnier than Seinfeld's standup last night

Yes, he started in standup. A good bit of it was focused on impressions of celebrities. Of course, he made it on SNL by 24 so not like he was touring the country for decades honing his craft.

I mean, it's not the same writing staff as Leno had so two episodes might be a tad too quick to judge the writing of this Tonight Now.

Now, if you mean that whoever writes for the Tonight Show has to focus jokes in such a way as to appeal to the lowest common denominator, then I can at least see what you mean. But I think your original statement is over-broad and premature.

Not true at all. Jimmy and Jerry are friends and have been for a while

I was meaning this...People hate the Tonight Show because it's horribly bland, shitty humor. They walked Leno out there every night doing the same Paris Hilton joke, Monica Lewinsky joke, etc...

It's bottom feeder comedy

I think they will. The whole dance routine with Will Smith on the first episode is something he would have done on Late Night.

I really believe if they let this show be as creative as Late Night was, it will be successful. Especially since Jimmy is a likable and genuine person.

cool...still doesn't negate the fact that NBC is in full swing of trying to find acts, guests, that are going to bring in viewers so they don't have Conan/Leno pt. 2

I enjoy Fallon's monologue. I really enjoy his skits and segments, which I think is his biggest strength.

However, his interviews suck. He seems to be too big of a "fan" of everyone he interviews. It's annoying. Stop smiling and shitting all over yourself and ask some decent questions and have some decent conversation.
