But it seems like Pope was always overacting dramatically, and I have to assume that someone high up thought he was great, otherwise we wouldn't have had him shoved down our collective throats all season long. But Pope even died all dramatically, with the long gaze and last breath that took forever as his head sunk into his chest.

Pope dieing reminded me so much of Bill murray dieing in Zombieland.

You have put way to much thought into this show.

Nah, man. That's seriously all based on about five minutes of clicking around on Falling Skies Wiki.

It just doesn't make much sense, because nothing in the show makes any.

I think you're a bit confused. This war (and the power station on the moon) wasn't to defeat the Dornia...they had already done that long ago, and enslaved the Dornia and turned them into skitters (and more).

No, I don't think I'm wrong. That one Espheni (Scorch) (back in season 4) told Tom that they built that power station to power a war machine to fight and enemy that they feared far more than the Volm or the human resistance (the Dornia).

Here is what the wiki page that you linked says about it:

quote:

The Espheni Overlord Scorch informs Tom Mason that the Espheni's reasons for their intergalactic expansion lies with their race being in constant pursuit by a dangerous force who they fear more than resistance or even the Volm.[4]

The construction of the Espheni Power Station on Earth's moon served as a weapon they intended to use to power their war machine against the arrival of the Dornia. It's destruction left Espheni occupational forces on Earth in severe disarray, allowing Volm reinforcements to return to Earth to assist the resistance, while also allowing the Dornia to enter Earth's solar system and it's surrounding star systems. A member of the Dornia race intercepts Tom Mason's captured beamer as it is sent hurling away from Earth at tremendous speed.[5]

Well shite, then I have no idea. Why would they talk like the Dornia are an imposibg force when the chick alien clearly tells Tom she was the last of her race?

It's like this show makes less sense than it did an hour ago to me.

Some of these breakdowns of the show, just beautiful. The plot holes, the bad acting, the story just made no sense.

On of my favorites was during Pope's speech at the end, he talked about some family taking him in after the battle where Mason thought he had died. Took him in and cared for him evne though he was the crappy person he was. They sure must have done a good job patching him up, he looked like he had just crawled out of the rubble and ended up dying of his injuries after his speech.

This show, I watched the first couple of episodes when it first came out. Skipped most of the seasons, and picked it back up last year when I started watching Last Ship. I was not along for the entire ride, but the ride I was there for, wow.

I thought he said it was some regiment out of Tennessee or something like that...I missed that it was a family.

And yeah, they didn't do shite to help him it seems like. So I guess after the little firefight with Pope, he just waltzed out of the front gate and away from everybody without being seen?

If I remember right, Pope was referencing the biker gang reinforcements that had just arrived. They cared for him or something like that. At least thats who I thought he was talking about it.

and managed to escape all the hornets attacking

I'm still trying to figure out where Tom went with Anne's body? They were in DC right? He just picks up a corpse and carries it where? To a Lake? The ocean? Is that creature in ANY water? Even if he went to the banks of the Potomac, that's a long way to walk carrying 150 lbs of dead weight and then some how Pope just shows up

Threads like this are why you're one of the best posters on this site. I'm just impressed how you took down this show and broke it down even further.

Lastly, this show is the very definition of plot armor and anti-climatic.

I can't tell if you're joking or not.

If so, then :(
If not, then <3

Ultimately, I'm just sad this is the thread that took off and not my FS final season thread from a few weeks ago.

I was using that thread but then I saw this one getting used so I just stayed with it. That other thread had some good discussions and points about the show.

I never watched UtD, but I think my favorite show to rag on was Terra Nova. I really liked that show, and partly because it was so bad.
