She was definitely the victim. She was trapped and essentially mentally tortured. She just wanted freedom and killing Nathan was her way out.

As for Caleb, I think he may have just been collateral damage. He would have been a threat to her freedom because he could have exposed her. That angle may be a bit of a stretch, but even if it isn't the case, she may simply incapable of sharing an equal view of humans. Much as we may view other animals. Thereason is no possibility of a love connection. I guess it's debatable, but I'm not sure that makes her evil.

She didn't kill him per se with her own hands, but she did purposely trap him in that room. She manipulated him into thinking that he was going with her. She asked him to wait here. Then when he thought they both were leaving she slipped out the door. She gave him the same treatment that she received. Trapped in a single room.

Saw this movie today. I really liked it. Great suspense through conversation.

I'll admit, I wanted to believe Ava was honest, but she played Caleb like a violin.

In response to someone's question of whether or not she is evil, I would say no. Her actions constitute a base drive to survive.

Does that mean she is "alive"? I think so.

Great movie that I need to see again.

Yeah. It was a really good movie. I love films with just a few characters, so it was right up my alley. And the ending was really well done in my opinion.

Those asking for a sequel are missing the point in my opinion.

Agreed. A sequel would likely tarnish it.

The ending was unexpected and fantastic. The question of when can you tell if the intelligence has reached the level of self-awareness was answered. Nathan's work was a raging success. Now there's a frickin' replicant on the loose.

My first thought when walking out of the theater is that when this scenario (creepy guy and his sexy robots) really plays out in a couple of decades, it's taking place in Japan.

I'm still processing how get this film was. I loved the ending and didn't expect what was actually coming.
