Everybody Wants Some (2016) - from the director of Dazed and Confused

I was very excited to see this because I hoped that if it was even somewhat as entertaining as Dazed and Confused I would love it.
Man, what a shitty movie.
Poor everything. Poor choice of actors. Poor character development. Poor script. I mean, nothing happens except several dance club scenes. Stereotypes were over exaggerated. Etc.
For a movie that looked like it was the next Dazed and Confused it did not live up to hype. Very disappointing movie.
The premise was full of promise but the promise failed to live up to the premise.
Man, what a shitty movie.

What?? Dazed and Confused is one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie was not Dazed and Confused but it was still very good.

Don't compare it to Dazed and Confused and you might enjoy it.
I actually want to rewatch it. For a supposed baseball guy, I thought you might enjoy the dynamics of the team. Also, they chase tail and dick off. Did it recapture the 80's in the way D&C did the 70's...probably not...I'll leave that to someone who did high school in the 70' and college in the 80's to tell me.

I really enjoyed this movie. Linklater does such a great job in his movies making the viewer feel a part of the group. Great soundtrack and it obviously wouldn't be a Linklater film without a lot of strong dialogue between the characters. It was one of those movies that is hard to finish watching without a smile on your face.

i typically disagree with most of your opinions, ex. the vvitch, but i have also heard similar reviews from a number of friends whose opinions i typically agree with when it comes to movies.
i have it downloaded, but still haven't seen it. i'll get around to it eventually.

It's hard to take you seriously when you refer to him as just the guy that directed Dazed and Confused. Linklater has a bunch of other great films too.

Dazed and Confused is movie magic. It's one of those movies where the stars aligned on literally every aspect of the movie.
The stars did not align on any aspect of Everybody Wants Some.

I give this movie a solid B...have watched it twice. Dazed and Confused had it all, plus memorable lines.
But I thought they had some great characters in this one...and loved the team dynamic
