Damn, that was really fricking good. Other than the GroundHog take, that was a pretty original way to get to the finish line.
2 questions....
Spoilers below.......
1) What is the theory on Cruise coming back to life at the end?
2) Was the sexy lead the chick from Britians Got Talent? Back when Simon and Piers were the other judges? She was the middle judge, no?
Either way, I thought that was a fantastic movie.

Creating Spoiler Gap...
I honestly have no idea. I guess the writers figured they had to end it and not have Cruise just "start over" again.
Also makes for a little bit of a tidier/happier ending because everybody is alive again and Cruise has his real identity back.
Emily Blunt? She was the female lead in everybody's favorite JGL flick, Looper, and a bunch of other stuff.
If she was ever on Britain's Got Talent, it's the first I'm hearing of it.
And yes, good movie.

Just watched a couple of days ago. Much funnier than I was expecting (Cruise's death scenes ).
SPOILERS
1) I just chalked it up to "Hollywood happy ending" but found this on the IMDB forum.
Essentially, when Cage kills the Alpha he's reset to 24 hours in the past. However, humans are only aware of the reset after sleeping or being unconscious, at which time they experience the transmission of the memories as a dream (the movie isn't clear on this, but I'm taking a cue from the book). So Cage dies and kills/hijacks the Alpha around 9:00am Day 2, resets to 9:00am Day 1, then wakes up with those memories at around 10:00am Day 1). And again at the end, he kills/hijacks the Omega around 5:40am Day 2, resets to 5:40am Day 1 (which is what I estimate as "just before dawn", which is when the General says they detected the "energy burst"), then wakes up with those memories around 8:40am Day 1 (we see the time is 8:40am on Big Ben in the movie).
2) Don't think so.

The death of the Omega happens the night BEFORE the invasion, and thus the resets a day before that event. This is his Last (second) reset point--the helicopter.
day 1 he steps of the helicopter
day 2 he arrives at the barracks
day 3 morning of the invasion
The alpha dies on day 3 and the omega dies on day 2.

Very concise way of putting it, DukeSilver.
I have literally watched this movie 8 times. Theater, illegally and legally. I love it.

Which allows him to change his reaction to the general sending him into combat and not get arrested. I just watched the movie last night and will need a rewatch to make sure I caught everything. The one thing I don't get is, at the end is the omega dead or do they have to go kill it again? It was getting late and I didn't want to rewind a watch the events again.

After he kills the Alpha on the beach, you never see it again. He "takes the place" of the Alpha, the Alpha is gone. Same with the Omega, he took it's place and it is no longer there.

Emily Blunt is delicious in this movie. Sweaty - yes. Still delicious.

Still don't understand the ending but I really don't care. It was such a kick arse fun movie. My favorite film this year. I think the slick editing is why the film works so well. Wish I would have caught it in the theater

I just watched this movie last night. Holy crap that was a great movie!! Probably the best sci-fi/action movie I've seen in a very very long time!
ETA: this is just my personal opinion, and I don't say this lightly, I thought it was almost T2 good.

Smoke a bowl and watch it and your mind will melt as you try and figure out how many times he actually died. It's like an infinite amount of times from what I can figure. Movie is cool as shite

Yeah, that's not an option for me.
Would be nice though

I just watched it for the first (and then the second) time Tuesday when redbox finally got it.
Great movie! I wish I had seen it in the theatre!
BTW On redbox and on Cox PPV it is listed as "Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow."

Yeah, apparently they retitled to give it more appeal. I think it's better going in not knowing about the respawning IMO, but live die repeat gives it away

Let's not forget to give props to the greatness that is Bill Paxton as the ornery sergeant.

It was based on a book that was based on a guy's frustrated playthrough of a video game. You can kind of see how it is similar to a video game. Live Die Repeat. Know where the next obstacle is, etc.

Just watched this last night as well. Much better than I thought it would be. Doesn't have that "repetitive" feel I thought it would.
