I liked the beginning and the end sort of.

SPOILERS

When you find out it's a robot, it bugged me. Felt like I was watching I Robot again. I did like how Shia saved the day at the end. Might have been a better ending if he had died and the govt just blamed it all on him. Also, what was the point of going to Indy in the movie? I know they get the stuff to inject in themselves to get on the plane, but why didn't the computer just send Shia to DC without even worrying about the Indy detour?

You probably thought this movie was good.

If you've never seen a movie before.

It was a supercomputer, get it right.

I thought the movie was great. I don't go in to movies, like it seems most people on this board do, looking to poke holes in it and nit-pick every little unrealistic thing about it. I watch movies to be entertained, and I thought this was highly entertaining.

Just another liberal piece of crap. Just kidding...but not really.

Although I did think it was total trash, but not b/c of political reasons. And I'm a big fan of Michelle Monaghan.

I think that would have been a better ending. I like darker endings to movies because it goes against the norm. It was too much like I Robot, though I agree.

I guess they had to get onto that plane so that they could then get into The Pentagon. I know they probably could have gotten in by some easier means, but that was why they had to go to Indy.

I didn't hate it half as much as I thought it would. It did remind me of Enemy of the State. Also, I didn't like the computer bit, it was like a parody of 2001's HAL 9000 to me.

But it wasn't terrible. The worst part to me was Billy Bob's character. I didn't really see the point of that at all. I mean, why would the computer have Shia arrested at the beginning at all? All that did was put cops all over his tail making it harder to do what it wanted him to do. Why not just activate him quietly the same way Moynahan's character was. Would have made it a lot easier to get him where he needed to go. Totally dumb plot device to ramp up the action sequences.

That was another thing that confounded me. Why deliver all the terrorist equipment when that just made it more difficult to get him to complete the task?

SPOILERS

I liked it but is requires a HUGE suspension of disbelief. I mean really HUGE.

Not only to get over the Super Computer but also to get over how stupid the Super Computer was.

I mean once we saw that the computer could cause power lines to fall on anyone then what was the point of needing humans.

Er couldn't the Super Computer have just killed everyone with the traffic light trick?

Also the stealing the drugs part to ride in the back of the plane was Stupid. Made even more stupid by the 92% survival rate. I mean they could have died and the computers plans would have been ruined. Stupid padding they easily could have taken out.

So as I said, HUGE suspension of disbelief.

And I agree. Shia needed to bite it. I mean firing twice into the ceiling the secret service would have riddled him with bullets. He would have been a pin cushion since he was standing on a table raised up with nothing blocking their sight.

Um no. It was the system's form of forcing him to help. Effectively destroys his life so if he doesn't want to spin the rest of his life in jail as a assumed terrorist, he will do what the computer tells him. The same reason why the computer threatened the kid to the mother...I guess that was a totally dumb plot device to ramp up the action sequences as well.

Did you watch the movie at all ?

The computer was designed to protect national security.

The computer wasn't trying to kill everyone. It was only trying to take out the the leaders of the government. It had decided that the leaders had done things that were illegal and weakened national security and therefore the government needed to be replaced.

By everyone, I clearly meant the people on the hit list.

As my quote stated, the computer could have killed everyone in the government on the hit list with the traffic light trick.

And if the computer could only kill people once Shia did the biological test then the computer shouldn't have been able to kill the guy with power lines and the countless people killed in the massive chase scene.

And before attacking my post which said I liked the movie you might want to go after all the people that said it sucked.

It was my impression that the brother put a lock on the system going ahead with that singular plan, rather than shutting down all of its abilities. It progressed as far as it could go without unlocking that plan. It got the cards set up, but only started moving them in place after it gets unlocked, both in terms of the trigger and the explosive.

The real frick up for me was getting Shia to scan his hand to unlock the brother's lock.
