What an odd movie. I really had no expectations going in but I saw it on Netflix. I can't say I felt strong opinions on it one way or the other. I just felt like there was something I was missing.

The opening of the movie was poor story telling in my opinion. The middle was kind of boring. And the finale was interesting but silly.

I also was kind of put off by the death of the princess. She wasn't the main interest or anything, but the main character just walks into the cave and finds baby dragons eating her. Graphic (for an 80s movie), depressing, and unnecessary.

That movie is one that I will leave on nearly every time it's on Sundance's channel. For some reason I really enjoy it.

I like a lot of the characters. Love the girl that's been living as a guy, the apprentice, the Wizard, his old helper, the guy sent to stop them, really just about all of them.

It does have some odd moments. Seems like I remember the scene where the kind of make the death of the old helper, Hodge, humorous.

I fricking love Dragonslayer, the shield made of scales is awesome and for an 80's movie it is graphic as hell and was the bomb for a pre-teen to teen boy during that time.

I really enjoy this movie. For the time that it was made its special effects were absolutely amazing. It did a great job of bringing a gritty fantasy world to life. The princess dying was good imo. It added to the apparent class war of the movie.

Its been years since I've seen it. Im going to have to check it out while its still on Netflix.

The best part of the movie was the dragon. The dragon looked like one evil mutha. And it was disgusting. Dragons were always supposed to be disgusting in the books I read. I guess movie makers just kind of forgot.

I don't see how the princess dying added to the class war. She volunteered, and she sacrificed herself. Then the dumb bitch committed suicide by walking into the cave by herself.

I laugh every time the king comes up at the end, sticks his sword in the charred dragon remains and is declared "dragonslayer"

I thought it was a smart move.

It made the upper class finally actually be vested in the atrocity of having the dragon around. They needed one of their own to die. It also was a nice little shock value. No one goes into a fantasy movie expecting the beautiful princess to die.

The best part of the movie really was the dragon though. That alone makes it worth watching.

One of my favorite dragon slaying type movies. Pretty heavy duty considering it was rated PG.

I love that movie!

Yes, those parts you talked about freaked me out when I was little, especially with it being a PG movie.

But all in all, I love it. I thought the dragon looked awesome, still does. Considering when the movie was made, they made the dragon look great.

And it is a Disney movie too!

I need to get it. I had it on tape for the longest time.

As a kid I always wanted that magic stone.

This movie is awesome BTW. I also agree with everyone that the dragon is still the most badass movie dragon to this day.
