Noah Hawley has been knocking it out of the park lately on television with critically acclaimed seasons of Fargo and the controversial but fascinating Legion. Today at Comic-Con, Hawley was on a panel for the second season of Legion, but he made a surprising announcement at the end. Right as the panel was ending, he said he was developing a movie for Fox that involved two words: “Doctor. Doom.”  THR adds that Hawley is writing the script with an eye towards directing.

Hawley is killing it with Legion. Would love a Victor Von Doom movie.

There is a huge potential for that to be terrible...but based upon his Legion work, I'll gladly give it a go.

This is Fox's way of admitting that Fantastic Four was an abject failure while still doing the bare minimum to keep the rights from reverting to Marvel Studios.

I wish Disney would just offer Fox and Sony a large amount of money and reunite the Marvel Universe.

Fantastic Four wasn't nearly as bad of a film as it gets credit for. The original scenes were all pretty interesting. The re-shoots where they tried to turn it into a crappy popcorn flick killed it.

It's not a good movie though. Still, I like the super hero films that do exist on their own universe. Marvel films have ceased to feel like they have their own identity, and we all know what they are building towards. Franchises like Fantastic Four (if done right) and X-Men have a lot more creative freedom.

You would not see Logan or Deadpool if Marvel owned film rights.

No, but if Marvel owned Fantastic Four, you would see the Annihilation Wave story-line.

Wouldn't have had Legion either.

I'm not interested in any Fantastic Four movie that Fox would have to offer.

Who gives a shite? Why can't these studios just the characters and come up with original stories for once? Why do they have to reimagine stuff like Civil War, Gauntlet, Old Man Logan, The Dark Knight Returns, the Death of Superman, etc etc etc?

I'll give Marvel credit for one thing...and it's something that I really hated at the time, but at least they tried something different with Mandarin. I think it was cheesy the way it played out, but at least it was different.

I'll give Marvel Studios credit for a million things, but the Mandarin ain't one of them.

After Fargo and Legion, I'm giving Noah Hawley the benefit of the doubt. He needs to cast Mads Mikkelsen as Doom.

I'm still waiting for that exciting Aunt May stand alone film from Sony they were talking about a couple of years ago after the Amazing Spiderman 2 came out.
