Seven Samurai was a completely different movie than LoTR. Took place in a village. Even the sword scenes in this movie are similar, only difference is they were Japanese guys and tried to look more graceful with katanas.
There were still all types of action in LoTR, even the scenes with Frodo and Sam had action in them. I'm really not sure what else you want in sword action scenes without them getting over the top or ridiculous.

No, I also can't say that I get that, ahem, excited about LOTR. For me, I never had much introduction to LOTR prior to the films: never read the books, and all I had ever even HEARD of it was the old Hobbitt cartoons which did not interest me AT ALL. I did see the first flick in the theater, and though I enjoyed it well enough, never bothered to see the second two there. Eventually saw all three on DVD a number of years later, and though I again can't say they were bad films (I actually quite enjoyed them), I can honestly saw that if I never see them again I'll be OK.
I guess I just don't have the same level of emotional attachment to those characters as I have for characters in other movies. Sitting here, right now, I'm having to think to remember the names of the characters. And that's saying something for me, because characters that interest me is one of my most important criteria for a movie.

A story that was suppose to be base on the strength of men and they failed the test. The only reason why they won was because of the. I -win button. Should have kept them for the final battle at least at the gates of mordor would have made more sense.
