comedy for me.
Clearly dark comedy. In addition, I would label parts of it under some sort of biographical non-fiction because I learned a lot about Phil Collins, Huey Lewis, and Whitney Houston from his soliloquys.

I think it could be considered a horror movie. It's sort of a dark comedy, social commentary, horror mashup

its funny.

i mean dude goes on some tangent about Phil Collins music.

then tells one of the girls to eat the other ones a-hole.

then does the narcissistic point and flex to himself during Sussudio.

Bale is British too.

always thought that was another smart arse twist.

maybe not.

I mean it's more than just comedy.

Slasher instead of horror maybe?

He does hack people up with axes and chainsaws.

Of course not.

or a (dark)comedy

Obviously it's a (very) dark, satyrical "comedy."

Is this even a debate?

It's an over the top satire of 1980s New York. The stark reality makes for comedy.

American Psycho is certainly more dark comedy than horror, but it's more appropriately neither. It's dramatic satire, a commentary on the shallowness of a peculiarly pecuniary social focus, brought to its apogee with the advent of Reaganism.
