Did you take sides during the basketball scene in American History X?

The scene at the beginning when the Aryans went against the Crips where the winner got sole claim to the courts permanently. As ridiculous and unrealistic as that scene was, did you find yourself actually siding with one of the gangs in spite of their reputations?

I've played on that court in Venice/Santa Monica and it's no joke. Very competitive with a ton of shite talking. My team lost, so we were bumped to the next court down, where I guarded a guy who only had one hand. I stole the ball from him once and I thought the dude was going to beat me down. It really wasn't a fun place to play pick up.

Is that the response you wanted?

Not really. Actually thought it was pretty stupid that either of them thought they exclusively owned public property

It's easier for me believe that Ed Norton could deal off the bottom of a card deck then to dunk a ball.

Not just dunk.. Dribble the ball as high as his head the length of the court and then finish with a reverse. It would have only been slightly less unrealistic if they had Ethan Supplee dunk.

But that was representing reality to be fair.

Especially...from the 80's and American history X is the tail-end with the 90's.

I mean 80's movies are goofy...with cardboard characters and gangs...but there were groups who believed they owned public spaces by presence and force... gangs...parts of B-ball courts, hangouts, parts of beaches, fast-food haunts...

That wasn't just movie bullshite. If people can claim they own a wave, and they did, you can claim anything and it happened.
