We're watching it now. A little over the top, but pretty enjoyable.

I watched for the first few season. Then they moved it to another night or something and I just kinda lost track of watching it. I watched up until that season where that one guy made the cop suck his dick at gun point.

One of the few shows where the finale gave complete closure.

Is this show a procedural or is it a long story like Breaking Bad or The Wire (The Wire was by seasons).

If you're not hooked in the first 5 min...

You know who Vic is right away, it's great.

The Shield is excellent and should not be missed.

Much better than Sons of Anarchy.
Not even similar type shows so any comparison is foolish.

I don't understand the need to compare shows in general. With so much crap out there, when shows are either good or great why not just enjoy them while you can?

Same network, same time slot, many of the same writers and cast members. Other than that, no reason at all.

I started and finished this series over the summer. Couldn't believe I never watched it before. Awesome show and it even found a way to go 7 seasons without jumping the shark. The finale was so fitting and awesome.

Will watch again.

A little of both. There are arcs that dominate much of the show that carry on through and across seasons. There's also some procedural aspects with the cases they work.

The long story is what makes this so great. One of my 5 favorite TV shows ever. Watched the first 5 seasons on DVD and then picked up the rest live.
