My favorite Leary role, by far, is Lono in Suicide Kings. That's one of my favorite characters in any movie, in fact.

That, and The Ref are my two favorite movies of his.

He will be remembered for being ridiculously funny in "No Cure For Cancer". One of the great stand ups that don't get mentioned enough.

NyQuil, NY Quill, NY Quill we love you. You giant fricking Q.

No, we're just familiar with Hicks works, and since he made a career ripping him off, it's perfectly acceptable to give him shite for the Ford commercials. One of Hicks more famous bits was calling out Jay Leno for being a scumbag hack by starring in the Doritos commercials. Said unless you're struggling to survive, the second you give into those sponsorships that you're merely a hack. So yeah, he would have eviserated Leary had he been alive to see the Ford commercials.

Apparently Norm MacDonald isn't of the same POV.

Well i think Hicks gets a lot of credit for being edgy. And there is no honor in not making money simply for the point of not making money. Its not like Leary is shilling, or dancing for his money. He's doing voice over work. Non-comedic voice over work.

Norm is notoriously awful with money as well. May be the worst in the business. He's gambled tens of millions of his cash away. He's incredibly compulsive, which makes him have a constant need of cash. Hopefully his book sales will keep him up for a while.

Hicks' rants against advertising turned me away from his act. For a guy who makes his living by having his appearances advertised by the comedy clubs, he really didn't have a leg to stand on.

It is funny how people talk about selling out in some forms but don't identify other similar things they do themselves. I guess we're all hypocrites about something or another.

"One time I was down $15,000, and I wanted to win it back quickly, so I bet my last $5,000," Norm remembers. "I got two aces, and I couldn't split them, because I had no more money. So I hit and got a ten. If I could have split, I would have gotten two 21s. Instead, I went over. Then I had to pull back from the table and walk to my room."

nothing more true in life than a bunch of people ripping on a guy for selling out when he became famous for the song "I'm an a-hole"

Hicks' anti-advertising rant was a bit more nuanced than a simple cry of sell-out. And part of his calling out Leno for Doritos was A) he didn't need the money and B) he was a hawking a terrible product that just makes America fatter and lazier.

He did transition the bit into why it was okay for Willie Nelson to shill for Taco Bell due to his huge tax bill.
