Just watching the trailer, I can't tell if this is Capital-T Terrific or simply flat and vapid.

I finally got a chance to watch the trailer. I don't know if I'm being overly nitpicky. Segel seems to come across more as a dejected stoner than nervous, shy and brilliant, as I perceived Wallace from his interviews. It's probably a mistake for me to demand too much for the movie to be exactly what I have perceived from DFW.

*Wallace wasn't small, but Segal is a real big dude.
**Because if you don't; you're just constantly thinking that the guy on screen isn't DFW but a guy trying to play him.

Literally was about to post this.
ETA: Here's Neil Gaiman's commencement speech at the University of the Arts. He's reading a book, basically, and if you read interviews with him, he doesn't actually talk like this.
