“Thank you so much. I know it’s a controversial film, I really tried to make something different, with a look and a voice of its own,

“I took inspiration from the insanity of the original comics. Making a movie is a journey, not a straight line. I learned so much. People want what they want, and everyone has a personal vision of how each character should look and walk and talk. If you set out to make a mass appeal movie, it’s easy to end up with vanilla. But I went for it. And I know Squad has its flaws, Hell, the World knows it. Nothing hurts more than to pick up a newspaper and see a couple years of your blood, sweat and tears ripped to shreds. The hate game is strong out there.

“The movie was wildly successful commercially. And the World got introduced into some very cool characters in the DC Universe. And that success is due exactly to the wonder and power of DC, of its characters. Would I do a lot of things different? Yep, for sure.

“Wish I had a time machine. I’d make Joker the main villain and engineer a more grounded story. I have to take the good and bad and learn from it. I love making movies and I love DC. I’m a High School dropout and used to paint houses for a living. I’m lucky to have the job I have. I have to give the characters the stories and plots they deserve next time. Real talk. (And no, there isn’t a secret edit of the film with a bunch of Joker scenes hidden in a salt mine somewhere.)”

No idea why the joker was never the main villain. Instead they went with one of the worst villains I've ever seen in a film.

Wait, he thinks more of Leto's Joker would have made it a better movie?

I think he watched too much of South Park raping Lucas and Spielberg and said...

I'm not going there. Audiences are more sophisticated know...you can't just turn out special effects and stupid one-liners with no character development.

And yeah...that didn't work out.

Suicide Squad was the worst film I seen last year.

With that said though, I think Ayers caught a raw deal with a studio that probably stopped him from making something good, but wouldn't step in to stop Snyder from making two really bad movies.

Yeah, it was the wonder of the characters that was the most talked about part of the movie:

I remember everyone talking about the character development. No one focused on the hot girl in booty shorts.

Ummm, yeah, why the frick wasn't this the case? Just give the Joker a nuclear bomb, break out everyone at Blackgate, have him beat Batman, and then send in the Suicide Squad. Hell, he could have had Poison Ivy and Clayface working for him, but they instead went with the worst villains possible. That would have worked and also been better for Harley's character.

I walked out of this movie after about 20 minutes. It was unwatchable.

I am hardcore comic books. Even I won't pretend that Suicide Squad was bad because it was too sophisticated. It was bad because it failed in all 3 phases of a movie. The beginning arc was way too long, which forced the middle arc to be badly rushed, than the final arc was piss poor in how it was thrown together.

Like with other recent DC movies, this was a great movie at some point. It just got lost on the cutting room floor.

I can't imagine where in the script this was possible with BvS. SS there was a good movie buryed in there, but there was nothing competent about the earlier. Nothing in Luthor's plan made any sense at all and I can't imagine where in the writing process that it did.

If you boil BvS down to Batman simply not trusting someone so powerful (this is the same person who has plans to take down the entire Justice League despite knowing each personally), then focus on the relationship between the two, it could have been a good movie.

The original comic this was adapted from did not have a villain like Luthor that pitted them against each other. They had their own motives. This movie established some motives that would cause them not to trust each other. BvS should have been just that. Batman versus Superman. Not Batman versus Superman because Lex Luthor and some weird visions, and oh by the way Doomsday is there along with Wonder Woman and hey was that Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg? I wanted BvS, not BvS&LLDDWWFAC.

O boy.

He thinks the answer is more of Jared Leto's Joker.

He still doesn't get it.
