Dana Carvey standup

I'm posting this here because of the obvious ties to the oft discussed SNL, and I seem to recall his standup show on HBO or one of the other premium channels fairly recently. Saw his standup show at the Orleans in Vegas this past Saturday. I really purchased the tickets because there just weren't that many decent shows available during our trip (a week later would have been an incredible trip for shows (Elton John, Britney, Jerry Seinfeld, Don Rickles, the original Guns n'Roses)...Bought the tickets reasonable early so we had great 2nd row center seats. I was expecting a "just okay" show with a heavy reliance on his old SNL stuff. The Orleans is a dump - old venue in desperate need of remodeling - and the average age in the crowd had to be around 65, and predominantly locals. Two of the three opening acts were Dana Carvey's kids, who are both in their early 20s. They were both funny, but they rely a bit too much on being Dana Carvey's kids. And you just felt compelled to laugh and clap for Dana's kids at Dana's show. But Dana absolutely killed it. He was incredibly funny. And surprisingly, he didn't rely much at all on his old SNL stuff. There was a very small Church Lady story and he briefly fell into Church Lady character to handle a front row lady who apparently went to college with him but who bordered on heckling since she wouldn't shut up about it. Very brief mention of Garth. His material was all new and current, and he had several "experimental" bits that he doesn't normally do and is still working on the endings for, but were still hilarious. I actually left wishing he had done just a bit more homage to the old SNL stuff. Easily one of the best stand up comics I've seen in my lifetime. The minute he walks on stage he just has a naturally funny presence. I left wondering why he was in a shithole like the Orleans playing to such an old crowd. Anyone here seen his live show?
