Monday - Supergirl
Tuesday - The Flash
Wednesday - Arrow
Thursday - Legends of Tomorrow
Friday - Black Lightning?

Personally, I hope they have Virgil Hawkins on this (Static).

The article clearly states that the actor is Cress Williams.

And I'm clearly alluding to the fact that he looks like Peele. He's too big to do a role like that

He's a metahuman whose powers involve manipulation of electricity.

They're making him much older in this series as it focuses on his two daughters.

Anytime I hear about black lightning, all I can think about is the SNL skit with Sinbad.

Originally was a blaxploitation era hero. Which would be great, if they'd set the series in the 70's.

Hopefully we'll get a flashback or two.

metahuman

Has this term always been prevalent in the DC Universe? I never noticed it until the Flash TV series. Now I hear it in all newer DC programs.

I first heard the term on Birds of Prey about 15 years ago. it was first used in the late 1980s comic Invasion to refer to humans or human-like aliens with super powers.

Yeah, it was Birds of Prey that started using the term like it was DC's version of mutants.

Metahuman was DC's answer to Marvel's mutant. I knew it was some time in the 80's, and it seemed like a knock-off term at the time as I recall. The miniseries Invasion introduced the term in the comics back in 88 per wikipedia. The same alien race they used on this season's Invasion story arc on the Flash for non-comic readers.

I always liked reading Black Lightning Comics as a kid in the 70's. He was the inspiration for Black Vulcan on the Superfriends cartoon and he was in the first Outsider's comic with Batman. I like making him older and giving his daughters some exposure. Let's hope it's a quality show. I can dig it.

They created Black Vulcan because writer Tony Isabella was a stickler for getting what was due to him for the use of the Black Lightning character. Cheaper for Hanna Barbera to create their own character and insert him there.
