I'm rewatching the series again in preparation for the new season. This is one of the funniest shows of all time. So my question is this: do you think Larry deserves all the criticism he gets on the show? Or are the people he encounters just ridiculous and they are to blame? I think it's a bit of both, but for the most part, I stick by Larry.

Well it's definitely both. Larry clearly does fricked up shite and his reputation kills his credibility when he's actually just the victim if unfortunate circumstances. Honestly one of my favorite comedy sitcoms ever.

Some of the issues he's completely right and everyone else is being completely ridiculous blaming him

Other issues he's completely wrong and he is being completely ridiculous

There's a nice balance

Larry is almost always right and wrong at the same time. If he was capable of properly communicating with people 95% of the shite he gets into would be stopped with a two minute conversation. Instead he suffers ultimate foot in mouth disease coupled with extreme defensiveness which bites him in the arse time and time again.

Larry didn't deserve to get yelled at when he used the n word. He was just quoting someone.

The funniest scene is the "tickle in your anus" scene. I died laughing at that one.

I agree it's one of the funniest shows ever

What makes his character so funny is that he usually is correct in his logic and thought process. However, where he messes up is in the way he handles things. Basically, he thinks and says all the stuff a normal person would in any given situation, however most people wouldn't actually act on those thoughts or impulses.

Leon Black is hands down one of the funniest characters ever made.

"I'ma jump out the bushes, grab the lady's purse, frick Larry up, and runoff."

"What do you mean frick me up? You're not gonna frick me up."

"Somebody gotta get fricked up, Larry."

Loved that entire exchange.

That and the topsy turvy exchange before Leon's job interview are two of my favorite Leon moments.

I think one of the best illustrations of his character is the episode where they're at that bonfire on the beach at night and the woman takes his jacket out of the car.

Obviously, any normal person would be a little pissed that someone took their jacket. However, most rational people (esp men) would suck it up and just let the woman wear the jacket because it's the polite thing to do.

This is actually the episode I was thinking of when Larry is right. I actually think I would create a fuss like Larry did. It would be one thing if she asked to borrow it. Yeah, I would say "sure" and just be cold. The fact that she went into his car and just took it pissed me off so much.

I've been rewatching on HBOGo. Just got done with Season 3. The show holds up so well, even with Season 1 premiering 15+ years ago.

Sometimes Larry is a giant jerk; sometimes he's correct but should let stuff go; sometimes the other person is completely wrong.

Classic Larry to the fullest--he goes out of his way to convince everyone to jump on board with the Seinfeld reunion for ONE REASON ONLY--to cast his wife on the show and win her back. After all is said and done and he's back with her making out on the couch, what's his first instinct? Get on her case about putting her glass down on the coffee table without a coaster.

Gotta love him. Can't wait.

I agree with nearly every single opinion he has, and most of the time other people are being more ridiculous. However, he deserves some of the shite for not having a filter.

I rewatch Curb constantly and it is one of the greatest comedies ever made.

Because he plays himself, I get a little iffy on how people treat him in restaurants and stuff to set up plot lines because he is a billionaire.

Billionaires don't catch the shite he catches from the DirectTV guy, lol.
