That's where I got it. Was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Really good movie. I thought the supporting cast was excellent all around. And Edmond just played the part especially after his training in the prison of just being this smart, calm and cool collected guy.

Excellent movie.

Same here. It's also a great blueprint for taking revenge.

What other Dumas books have you read?

One of my all-time favorites. Never read the book, have been meaning to for quite some time.

It really was a good movie and then I read the book about two years ago, and kind of ruined the movie for me. I didn't think the book could really be that much better than the movie, but it really exceeded expectations. A true master piece. That said, still a solid movie and I do enjoy watching it when it's on TV.

I also went to the Chateau d'If a few years ago. It was definitely a lot smaller than what I had imagined, but still awesome.

The Count of Monte Crisco...really?

It came out in 2002 or 2003, I think. It was an entertaining movie. I enjoyed it when I was younger, but I grew up and read the book. It's a fun, entertaining film, but it's bastardization of the novel.

Danglars was way too old, and what happened to Caderousse? Mercedes was smoking in that movie, though but I don't think she really looked like a Catalan woman.

There is a French made-for-TV version on Netflix that is closer to the novel (although still not perfect). It lacks the lightness and fun of the Jim Caviezel flick, but it's worth a watch.

I do like the part where he forces the prosecutor to attempt to commit suicide but then finds out there is no bullet.

In the original screentest there was a bullet, but the audiences reacted negatively so they re-wrote that scene.

I like it better. Not because less blood but because he broke him and he has to live with it.

Totally. It wouldn't have fit with the rest of the movie if they had it that way. Damn. I'm going to give this a rewatch now that you've brought it up. The whole thing is on youtube in multiple languages.

Its' rated 7.7 on IMDB: LINK
I think that is a little low for the quality of the movie.

The book is as good a page turner as has been written, although there are several different versions and endings of the book.

I never saw this version of the movie - I'll have to check it out.

I think it got its just recognition in the only rating system that counts: The TD M/TV Board Top 200 Movies We Agree Don't Suck. We had it rated as the 66th greatest movie of all time.

I love this movie and I think that's a fair rating.
