Lance Henriksen has over 200 acting credits to his name. Bill Paxton almost 90 acting credits. Therefore, I'm going to list no more than 10 - 15 of their best movies (from my opinion) and everyone can judge based on that info or additional info you'd like to add to the thread.
First, Lance Henriksen:
Close Encounters of the Third Kind ('77)
The Right Stuff ('83)
The Terminator ('84)
Aliens ('86)
Near Dark ('87)
Pumpkinhead ('88)
Survival Quest ('88)
Alien 3 ('92)
No Escape ('94)
Powder ('95)
Harbinger Down ('15)
Bill Paxton:
The Terminator ('84)
Aliens ('86)
Near Dark ('87)
Predator 2 ('90)
Tombstone ('93)
Apollo 13 ('95)
Twister ('96)
Titanic ('97)
A Simple Plan ('98)
Frailty ('01)
Club Dread ('04)
Edge of Tomorrow ('14)
Nightcrawler ('14)

I like Henriksen but he mostly does B level crap. Paxton is better.

No one knows who Lance whatever is.
Paxton easily wins this

Probably have to give the nod to Paxton, but I enjoy the work of both actors. Henriksen's Milleneum is so overlooked. Really good series.

You forgot Dead Man for Lance and you forgot One False Move for Bill.

Both have a science fiction/"space" theme to their film careers, but Paxton seems to have broken that mold to a greater degree.
Henriksen plays more traditional support/authority figure type roles and does them very, very well. Paxton has shown some range and is competent as a lead if the product is right.
Acting "ability" - nod goes to Henriksen. Better "movie star"? Clearly Paxton.
I know the Powder/Phenomenon thread triggered this - but why start this thread if you're not going to mention "the club"?
Henriksen and Paxton are part of the rare club (I think the only 2 confirmed members) - killed, on-screen, by a Terminator, a Predator, and an Alien.

Paxton was also the lead in the series Big Love.

Paxton.
By far the best thing about Torchwood's fourth season.

Also, this. I can't find the video where it's every time someone says Hudson's name. But this will have to suffice for now.

Paxton's list didn't include True Lies and Weird Science.
Two great roles of his.

Henriksen could never have played Chet.
ISTR reading that Henriksen was the original choice for the Terminator. Think of how different that would have been without Arnie.

Would've been light years better...

He was the only major male character with 4 women co-stars.
Anyone that was in Terminator, Stripes, Aliens, and Tombstone gets my vote.
