You were clearly affected by the gas leak.

When truth was spoken, it was certain that the aforementioned cultists would appear in this thread and do what they do. Parrotting "gas leak" like it's something clever is one of the sadder manifestations of the pathology resulting from years of having your head up Harmon's arse. Again, as someone who didn't know who "Dan" was (all of you are on a first name basis, of course) until some time into the 5th season, I'm just left SMH at you people.

Season 4:

1. Hunger Games Parody
2. Pierce's Panic Room
3. Inspector Spacetime Convention
4. Changnesia introduction with the Geman students again
5. Jeff meets his dad, Shirley's Thanksgiving
6. Changnesia Documentary
7. P.E.E. class, the "whale"
8. Sadie Hawkins/Sophie B Hawkins
9. Balloon Ride/Puppets
10. Christmas at Jeff's with History professor
11. Freaky Friday
12. Origins Stories
13. Darkest Timeline with Jeff

The Changnesia and Chang villain setup was awful. Then he just drops is because Abed talked to him.

Most of those episodes are completely forgettable. I hated that they made Annie a little girl again in the Spacetime Convention.

I actually did like the Freak Friday episode. I thought they handled that well.

Sadie Hawkins was ok, but 4 wasn't up to par with the rest. I really enjoyed 5. The Nick Cage scene was hilarious.

Season 5 was great! Season 4 was okay but definitely down a peg from the rest. I love this show and have gotten many friends to buy the dvds.

5 and 6 both start off slow but once you get used to the new characters the episodes are gold. Rewatching helps appreciate how good they are

The finale is also very underrated. Tears to the eye

Yeah its cool how they got Keith David to join the show too. It's about time for me to do a complete series rewatch when school work slows down a bit. I really wish it was on Netflix for convenience but I have all the DVDs except the final season and will pick it up soon at Best Buy cause they have it.

This board is not necessarily populated with Harmon fanboys but it certainly is full of people who don't like douchebags and their shitty opinions.

I started casually rewatching a couple of months ago. I'm about half way through season 2. I haven't rewatched since it's first run and I must admit, I completely forgot how hilarious it is. I mean, several times I've laughed so hard I wondered if I was going to suffocate myself.

I've been watching a lot of Community lately, and I will say that S4 does get unjustly shite on a lot.

Sure, I absolutely hated the Changnesia angle, but there were a lot of awesome things about S4. Here is a post from a couple years ago:
quote:

In fact, outside of the whole "Changnesia" angle, I thought season four was really good. Also, as awesome as the "multiple timelines" episode was, I didn't like that the dark timeline later became involved in the show, although IIRC, it all ended up being in Jeff's head anyway, so I was cool with it. But season four had Jeff fighting HUnger Games style to get the group into History of Ice Cream, the Halloween-ish episode where they're all in Pierce's mansion, Inspector Spacetime convention, the Thanksgiving/Shawshank episode, the group/school trying to recruit that kid with the rich parents (and Troy and Shirley take the P.E. teacher class), the Sadie Hawkins/Sophie B. Hawkins dance episode, the muppet episode (which I wasn't crazy about the first time, but it's grown on me), the Christmas one with Malcolm McDowell, the one where Troy and Abed do Freaky Friday so Troy can break up with Britta, the one where it shows all their lives were connected in the past, and the second "Intro to Finality" one.

That's a pretty solid list of episodes. And I think one reason I hated the Changnesia thing so much was because I just hate Ken Jeong so much...but at least they made it fit within the episodes as the season went on.

Side note: I hate when I get into recording a certain show on a random channel, and just as I am getting really into it, they randomly stop airing episodes. I've been recording Community on some random channel (channel 13 in BR) for a couple months now, and all of a sudden like a week or two ago they stopped airing episodes. Pissed me off.

That string of episodes you listed would all be at the bottom of my ranking if I took the time to rank all the episodes

They were actually the problem with season 4, it was like a weird psychological experiment for a season...bunch of off the wall episodes that tried to be deep without adding enough comedy to get the right combination of laughter that makes community work

And I watched the show after the fact without really knowing many of the detail of the Harmon stuff. I only really knew about the Pierce drama. I felt a massive drop off that season because they took some of the fun out of community that year.

The 1st episode of season 5 had a similar feeling to it and I was really worried they would never get that lightness back into the show after the evil abed storylines. But they used it to set up the plot and then recreated that community formula for two more season

ETA I'll also add that I felt the same way about the last couple episodes of season 3 where Chang is being a dictator on the show, it was pretty dark and mostly Chang so it wasn't very funny

Easily the worst part of the show. He was fine as the Spanish teacher, but it felt like once Ken Jeong was getting more famous, they tried to figure out a way to shove him into the show. Once he became a regular on the show (like main character), the quality suffered IMO.

And the transition of the character was overly stupid, and often weird. He went from Spanish professor, to something else professor (I think), to student, to lowly student nerd trying to get into the study group, to security guard, to fricking dictator of the school. The whole Chang Empire thing was overly stupid and unnecessary.

IMO one of the best things about Community was the back and forth with the Vice Dean of the A/C school. But for whatever reason they shut that down quick (when they killed off John Goodman's character randomly). But them trying to lure Troy in there (and Troy being some sort of A/C prodigy...and plumbing too) and their little feud with the dean was great.

Those episodes are so drastically different than any other in the show that it's almost like Season 1 of Parks and Rec, where you just kind of want to ignore that it happened

You could also see where they would shoe horn Pierce into an episode just to make him happy. By the end of his run of episodes, he just drug the entire show down and was just as much a cliche/charicature as Chang was

This is an argument for another day but all these reasons why Parks and Rec was the better overall show imo, but Community had the higher peaks and lower valleys. P&R always delievered

IMHO

Seasons 1-3: Golden Television. Season 1 started out strong. Season 2 was just as good. Season 3 was about 90% of the quality of 1 and 2.

After season 3 I wasn't a big fan.
