Cyclops has long been a bad arse, in part to Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men. Now, Vader style, he has killed his mentor. The Phoenix Force,

anyone else happy to see Scott go full baddie here? Also, Silver Age Scott has time traveled into current day and will get to see what he's become.

It'll be blamed on the Phoenix. He'll be a pariah for it though. I'm more sad about this looking to be the end of the badass Scott General Patton Summers era. I just don't see him not being a little down after this.

The young Xmen coming to the present is an interesting concept though.

The X-Men are my favorite comics but Cyclops is my least favorite of them. I don't really care for that story line.

Which one? The Avengers vs Xmen? It really was pretty terrible. They just can't stop churning out these shitty big event stories.

I miss the Claremont\Byrne days. I know it doesn't have a whole lot to do with the topic, just needed to say it.

I think the problem is over-saturation. Back in the day of storylines like Days of Future Past (see above post), Phoenix Saga, Morlocks, etc you only had one XMen book. Eventually you had New Mutants, but that really could stand on its own (and usually did). Same with X-Factor and then Excalibur.

Once you got into multiple XMen books as well as many characters getting their own personal books, it just got to be too much. You can either do quantity or quality, Marvel has been doing quantity with the X books for quite a while.

What would be awesome is if down the line, he ends up killing Magneto as well. I know Magneto is a "good" right now, but to come full circle would be interesting.

Cyclops being badass has been the best part of X-Men in the last 10 years. I see him being outcast, like Napoleon, until they need him again.

Depends on the writing. The Avengers franchise has been big and doing well.

I would go for this. At least it would be more interesting than outcast, depressed Cyclops turning to the darkside with Magneto.

I've heard rumors of him and Cable being in a new XForce book. This could signal him remaining somewhat of a badass.

Ever since the Schism storyline, Cyclops is such a douche. I'm not sure why anyone would have sided with him and stayed on Utopia.

I was really hoping that he was gonna be the big death at the end of AvX.. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the Marvel Universe reacts to him now.

Well if the treatment of Scarlet Witch is any indication, he shouldn't be treated too badly. She'll be back on an Avengers team in a few months and she pushed an entire race to near extinction.

Cyclops has killed the mutants MLK Jr though. Not like its the first time, or even fourth, that Prof X has bit it.

The many deaths of Prof X

I see, I didn't get this comic series mainly because x men vs avengers have been done to death already. I rememeber something about the west coast avengers way back in the day also.

So Scott Summer is now a bad guy? What did he do that made him bad?

I've only read the comics from the 60's through to the early 90's but I always got the feeling Cyclpos was a big pussy through those eras.
