To those that said it is not a remake of the John Wayne movie, that is exactly what I heard. They say it is completely different and fans of the old movie won't see many similarities. Again, it is their interpretation of the book.

I've noticed many times people don't pay attention or they skip right over posts in the middle of a thread.

Really? True Grit was standard "coming of age" assigned middle school reading when I was coming up. The movie was also (I think) John Wayne's only Oscar win.

Read the book I guess, but I probably wouldn't watch the original right before watching the new one in the theaters because you'll be comparing them, and it's not supposed to be a remake.

Really? This is what did it for you huh?
If we're going to get mad about Hollywood remakes let's take it out on somebody else and give the Coens a pass.

I'm not mad about it, and it actually looks pretty good. I'm just saying it's not an original story.

To other posters, I've known since they started this project that it was being billed as a "re-imagining." So was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The point is that both are based on the same story. That this looks like it's going to be good does not change the fact that, dress it up with whatever terminology you like, it's the same basic story. That simple fact does not mean it's going to suck. shite, I thought the Oceans 11 remake was WAY better than the original, and that The Thomas Crown Affair was at least as good, but for every remake that succeeds, it opens the floodgates for the Longest Yard and Clash of the Titans of the world.

So in short, if this is good, we will pay. We will all pay, dearly.

About $10.50, I think, $13 if you want popcorn.

I live in DC, where movies are expensive, yet popcorn is plentiful.

I just got back from El Salvador and the tickets were $3.25 and a popcorn and coke combo was $2.75. Pretty awesome. I mean it wasnt the nicest theatre ever, but it did have stadium seating.

Bridges looks badass. Damon/Brolin/Pepper is a pretty fricking awesome supporting cast too.
