Classic movies you would like to see remade in a different genre.

A thread the other day got me thinking of this.

Name the movie and the genre you'd want to see. Also, give us a director. Or an actor. or something that helps the movie come to life.

I'll start:

Dumb and Dumber as a dark drama directed by the Coen Brothers

Nightmare on Elm Street as stop motion animaton directed by Henry Selick

I'm a horror junkie soooo....

Harvey - Horror
High Plains Drifter - Horror
Wizard of Oz - Horror

I'd say though, Seven Samurai as a comedy would be fun...A Bug's Life proved it could be done.

Interesting idea, but I think this would just rub me the wrong way. The original was such a happy movie with a great message.

Return to Oz was already kind of this in a way. Movie freaked me the hell out.

Blazing Saddles as a drama.

Racism issues, western gang life, and the tough work of the law in the early west.

See that's almost changing too much to where it's a different movie.

I am ok with this.

Monster Squad as straight up drama. Children, their fears and dreams. What would really happen to a town when monsters come to life.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as a rated R Comedy/Horror.

Halloween with more emphasis on the Psychological Thriller aspect instead of the Horror aspect. Maybe directed by David Fincher.
