I think this looks awesome.

Release April 12. Battle of Ft Sumter began on April 12, 1861. Nice touch.

i'm excited for this one.

i'm genuinely hoping they manage to remove today's politics from it entirely.

The Culture War podcast had on some guys from the California Secession movement and it avoided any sort of "civil war" dialogue for the most part and really discussed the breakdown that would lead to a state really trying to leave the union.

It had Pool's typical dramatic ridiculousness, but I enjoyed the conversations about 3/5 compromise, immigrants in census, voting problems, etc. that are all leading to federalism.

The sniper with the painted fingernails was a nice touch.

Looks like Pablo dipped into his supply and lost some weight. Good for him!

I've talked to a few people that have seen test screenings. You will get very little in terms of the "why." The movie is not straight war movie as it's being portrayed in trailers - far more cerebral. It's Alex Garland so that's to be expected.

I think it'll be good.

I just hope we don't find out the movie is actually a historical piece made by time travelers. Although let's be fair here, Florida is the wildcard when it comes to the next civil war. If I'm in a trench opposite them, I have no idea what to expect.

edit* saw the trailer before Iron Claw, movie itself looks really good. Wife and I said it would have to be the next date night movie.

There's gonna be a lot of pissed people thinking they get a full on war movie.

I'm sure it will be up my alley

Doesn't that seem impossible for a movie about something inherently political?

i mean if they say Texas secedes over the Border Crisis to take things into their own hands and California secedes because they want to govern themselves in their own progressive utopia, that's fine. That's realistic but not punching at a particular direction politically.

If Texas is seceding because they want to institutionalize white supremacy and California secedes because Trump was re-elected, then no, that's today's politics playing in.

They referenced the Western forces of Texas and California, which makes me wonder if those two states joined up. Plus they referenced Florida by itself. So I wonder how much the country got divided up.

Yeah apparently it’s more about this reporter and her crew following the lives of people living in the war more than the war itself and why it’s going on

The trailer implies that Cali and Texas are aligned with each other, and the Florida Alliance being another faction, and then the rest of the US.

It also says they seceded illegally, meaning 34 (?) states did not sign off on it.

So if CA and TX are aligned, its not over that. Its likely something to do with something the Fed did that even extreme libs and conservatives can agree on.

The trailers are very misleading. It's not a war film, but this will get butts in seats

These are usually the worst types of movies. Set realistic expectations and don't try and dupe your audience.

What will most likely happen with this will be...
Texas secedes because racism.
Cali secedes because enlightened.
Alliance to protect independence, and nothing else.
