The godfather

Casino isn't as good as goodfellas. Though Harry Reid is fictionalized and portrayed as a huge scumbag

I think Goodfellas is the better film, but Casino is more fun to watch.

EDIT: Sorry I thought we were talking about Goodfellas here, watch The Godfather,

Casino is really good but it's too visceral and something is lost from goodfellas. Nothing about it is romanticized.

Godfather is just classic cinema

And I agree with Fox on all of this - at the same time, for whatever reason, Casino seems just a little bit more rewatchable than Goodfellas - not that I haven't seen both of them a couple of dozen times.

If you haven't seen either - definitely watch Godfather and Godfather Part II first (skip III - pretend it didn't happen). If you haven't seen Goodfellas - I'd recommend watching it before Casino. Those are 4 of my 5 favorite gangster films (Miller's Crossing rounds out the 5.)

How many sequels of best picture winners also win best picture? Even if you think Oscars are bull$hit (I do), that's still remarkable.

The Godfather .. Casino is entertaining and has some great performances but it's a mess. Too much of everything.

In my younger days I preferred casino, but watching goodfellas I feel like I'm at the movies. It's more engrossing.

It's hard to articulate

It's worth it for Stone's performance and Deniro as a cerebral tough guy, rather than muscle. He was mis-cast, but he still had a lot of the old Deniro in him and put in an A minus performance, anyway.

In many ways this is the first movie with the Deniro/Pesci partnership where Joe clearly outclassed him. In Raging Bull, it was a literal big brother/little brother situation - in Goodfellas, while Pesci stood out and won the oscar, the parts were written that way - he was supposed to be bigger - both gave A + performances, but Pesci's character was just more memorable.

By the time they got to Casino - Pesci was born to play the character and Deniro was, as I said, mis-cast. Also, this is the only movie where Sharon Stone appears to be a great actress. She also delivered an Oscar quality performance.

Stone just plays herself but yes, a+ Performances
