Cable/Satellite Alternatives?

So I'm going to be moving soon and thinking about dropping Dish...tired of paying almost $90 a month. Basically the only things that I watch are: ESPN 1 and 2, ESPNU, SEC Network, Fox Sports, and local channels for college football. Occasionally watch some other channels but could live without them...these listed are the ones I have to have.
I have been told that a Roku or PlayStation Vue are very good when paired with Sling TV. Does anybody here have any experience with these? The only thing that has me skeptical about things like these are the streaming. What happens during college football season and there are thousands or millions of people watching. How badly is the speed and performance of these affected? Will I be in constant buffering or anything? I'm in north Louisiana FWIW, have decent internet but nothing spectacular.
Any other viable options for these?
Thanks in advance. I searched for cable replacement but not much popped up. If this topic is Germans somebody please point me to the right thread! Thanks.

I tried Vue and Sling and thought they both pretty much sucked. Nowhere near as consistent as my current Cox cable.
Your mileage may vary.

He searched the correct board. Not his problem that you posted your question on the wrong board.
If you look at the thread that is linked you will find more information than you can remember.
