I'm not a comic reader, but I do konw that Scarlet Witch has some ridiculous events tied to her. She's basically a reality warper now and her powers don't even make sense.

Capt Marvel Powers:
- Super Strength: At max power, she can lift 100+ tons. Normal range is probably 50-75.
- Durability: Can take hits from high caliber bullets, massive falls, extreme force trauma, etc., without damage.
- Speed: Can run far faster than a human. Can sustain flight at multiple times the speed of sound. Can reach near the speed of light if at full Binary power.
- Energy Blasts: Can direct powerful energy blasts from her hands. Can also absorb energy, increasing her power.
As Binary, Capt Marvel becomes even more powerful. She would easily be the most powerful entity in current Marvel movie canon if she is given that ability, well, outside Thanos I guess.

And I wouldn't be surprised if that's what ended up happening, considering that her movie is supposed to come out right before the last half of Infinity War.

Yea, if they are going to take on Thanos, the Avengers need more power. The Hulk is their bruiser and Thor is second in power, but the others really don't have the strength to pull it off. Vision will likely become irrelevant because he is powered by an infinity stone and he will most likely lose it to Thanos.
Capt America, Black Widow, Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Ant-man, Iron Man, and War Machine are all useless against him. The Guardians of the Galaxy are also useless.
Capt Marvel adds significant power to their team. They need the boost.
