If there’s one thing we’ve learned in ten years of working with Brandon, it’s that he almost always delivers more than we’ve asked for and that he loves to surprise us.

We were awaiting the arrival of the previously-announced sequel to The Alloy of Law called Shadows of Self when he did it again, presenting us with not just one newborn novel, but twins! The surprise package was the third Wax & Wayne adventure, Bands of Mourning.

Shadows of Self, the second book in the Wax and Wayne Mistborn series, is currently scheduled to arrive on shelves and ereaders in October 2015, followed by Bands of Mourning in January 2016.

So I worked on the outline for the Wax and Wayne sequence to get myself back into the world. In doing so, I got excited about #6. So I started working on that one, and wrote the whole thing as a kind of "Warm up." Once done, I was back into the world. That made it easy to jump back to book five and finish off that one, which I was now very excited about doing. So...yeah. I kind of wrote a book as a warm up to write a different book. My process can be crazy sometimes, but it really worked. So, there will be a total of FOUR Wax and Wayne era Mistborn novels. Alloy of Law, plus a Trilogy I plotted after finishing it.

Is the Alloy of Law any good. I liked the Mistborn trilogy (although parts of the third book were a chore to get through) but I haven't picked that one up yet.

I finished EVERYTHING HE'S WRITTEN(Except WOT) while waiting on Winds of Winter.

My sentiment exactly, GCT. Though a new Stormlight is what I really want, but I'll take these and be very happy about it.

I went into it with pretty low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. It left me anxious to read more about Wax & Wayne.

Unfortunately, you probably still have time to translate them all to Sanskrit while waiting for Winds of Winter

I have no idea how this dude does it. He just cranks out novels like crazy. I'm convinced his wife or something is also a writer. There's just no way someone could do the volume and quality he does so quickly.

I also hope it doesn't push back his Stormlight Archive progress too much, I'm halfway through the first book so far and loving it. It will be hard to pace myself

I heard he took a course on writing from GRRM.

Stormlight 1 is good, but it's really just putting all the pieces on the board for you. shite gets real in 2, and then wraps up very nicely at the end for 3.
