i feel like morgan freeman is played out, he has worn his one character out so bad. I like him, but for this show, it needs something unexpected.

Likewise. I can easily see Pitt doing well in this genre.

You could just get Vincent Danoffrio and have him do his law and order criminal intent character. lots of head tilts and the works.

I don't know how Brad Pitt could be almost signed on when there isn't a contract yet for Season 2 to even exist.

I'm concerned about the situation because normally it doesn't take this long for a second season of such a successful show to get greenlit. I think there are major problems between HBO and whatever Nic P. has submitted for season 2.

I read in a Nic P. interview from March that he is looking to do Season 2 where each week is a separate story. To my knowledge, HBO has never produced a drama in this fashion, and I would think it goes against their business model as a no-commercials premium cable channel.

Maybe he is looking to do more of a Sherlock type set up with longer episodes but 1 story per episode.

I wouldn't be opposed to that.

this goes against what makes hbo programming so great. if i wanted to watch a show with a new story each week, i have a bunch to choose from, including the multiple iterations of law and order and csi.

I hope the 2nd season takes place in Louisiana and does not end up in a New York Subway as was hinted in one article I read. Pitt will be fair to midland but he certainly doesn't have close to the charisma or acting chops of the previous two.
