Starting this discussion thread because the other thread twisted into spoilers and OP disappeared.

Personally, I've watched all 3 seasons. I thought S1 was really good, it was really my kind of show... very character based, perhaps too slow for others, but the irony of such a colorful setting polarized with the darkness of the story.

I would recommend Bloodline S1 to anyone that wants to watch a very good collective drama.

S2 was when the writing took a hit for me. One of my main things in believing a storyteller is that your characters should be true to themselves as written. This is how S2 really jumped the shark for me, and it was Meg, not Kevin.

Meg in S2 is last two seasons of Dexter. You don't write smart characters and then turn a switch and all of a sudden they're dummies. It's the big FU to the audience.

S3 was ok for me E1-E6, I thought maybe writers had a plan. But E7-E10 really just solidified for me that they had no clue at all.

And it's not an ambiguous ending that matters, I actually like those sometimes. It's the nothing storylines and characters introduced. And the dismissal of those storylines and characters is bad writing.

Ppl give BSG a hard time with their wrap-up, but they had the same time constraints Bloodline had. Right now I want to rewatch BSG and I want to punch Bloodline in the face.

The first season will always be legendary though.

One of the absolute best seasons of any tv show I've ever seen.

It was really good. I'd recommend Bloodline S1 to everyone.

Just like I'd recommend The Matrix to anyone. But, maybe it's better to stop there. Greatness followed by folly.

Bloodline season one is the best season of any show I've ever watched. When I'm bored or can't sleep, I turn it on. The characters are great, the acting is solid, and the story is absolutely riveting. Season 2 really wasn't that bad to me. The people who hated it were too obsessed with Danny to give it a chance. I thought it was solid and introduced new twists. It could have easily been a 5 season show if they did it right and had the funding. They renewed it for season 3 at 13 episodes and then cancelled the show a few months the later due to the film tax credits expiring. Yet the writers still had a chance to make it work. I just don't think they wanted to and maybe the actors didn't either (Meg). They had written too many storylines to be able to wrap it all up so fast.

John leaves his truck after the accident and drives another car a few episodes. Then he is back in his truck that doesn't look to show any damage at all. Am I missing something?

I don't know if ive ever seen a show take such a turn for the worse as S3 Eps 7-10. What a complete waste of my time finishing the season. Piss poor writing is what it comes down to and it's baffling. What happened? Did they not give a shite anymore or what? Ozzy may have been the most worthless character in a show I've seen in a long time. If his character was never even introduced the show wouldn't have skipped a beat, that's how worthless he was.

The writers had 5 or 6 seasons planned and then the show was abruptly cancelled and they had to wrap it up on 3.

I think the writers were just pissed/gave up and just ended it how they could.

I'm just pissed (I guess most at Netlifx and Florida lawmakers) for taking such a great show and ending it in such an awful way.

Ozzys story line ended up useless. Meg disappeared. Chealsea Obannon deserved a better end/redemption.

Just horrible.

Kevin pissed me off so much by the end of the season. He was so god damn dumb and constantly calling John an a-hole. Yet, John kept helping him out when he asked.

Episode 9 might be the worst hour of TV I've watched in a long time. . . and I have kids that area always watching the Disney Chanel.

Just finished season 3 and wow Ozzy was the most worthless character I've ever seen in television. He was bad in season 2 but season 3 made no sense for him.

First few episodes of the season were good, then it fell off the rails. Disappointing.

I also hated the way Diana would pronounce "Danny" like "Dahhny". Irked the shite out of me.

Agree with your analysis. I think Ben Mendelssohn was a huge contributing factor to how good season 1 was. Also, Kevin is the fricken worst. He is a retard.

Just finished the series. It seemed like the writers found out it was cancelled after writing episode 5 or 6 of S3. Then after that just mailed it in. Went for the psychotic break of John, which may have been the plan, but then just went all out "artsy" Groundhog Day. Then they were left with only an hour to wrap up all the loose ends. Kevin gets taken down - but wish it was his dumb arse who left the GPS on on his phone. Throwing Belle under the bus was weak. I always thought she was smarter than Kevin - if only a little (after all she did marry him).

So in the end:
John is single and still a cop even though he tried to turn himself in.
Meg is doing whatever in Cali.
Kevin is someone's bitch in federal prison.
And Sally just drinks herself to death in a house she can't sell? It was she who set all the bad mojo in motion.

O'Bannon is doing 30 years for a crime he didn't commit - though maybe justice for crimes he got away with over the years.
Chelsea is waiting tables having lost her RN
Ozzy should have just been left out of S3.
Have no idea what happened to Nolan's Mom who brought Ozzy into the Rayburn world.

And I'm not clear on who the girl was that was Danny,Ozzy and Nolan's friend(?)in Miami. Was she in the show prior to S3. I don't rescale her.

Sadly anticlimactic end to what was an excellent show.

Hot take right here. My God, Kevin is the biggest screw up on television. Hyperbole of course, but holy crap.

Did anyone else get distracted by how bad Ben Mendelson's wig was in S3? It was awful.
The Americans can put 30 different wigs on their characters and they couldn't get 1 to look like his real hair.

I got bored with The Americans in season 2, but the disguises were amazing. That jumped out to me every time they used them.

That's Kevin "I'm so fricked" Rayburn. It was kind of comical how pretty much all the siblings exclaimed "frick!" or some variant when they suffered one of their frequent setbacks throughout the series. Real drinking game material there.

I see a lot of people shite on S03E09. I thought it was pretty good. John's paranoia and guilt are heavy burdens, and that episode gave a taste of what his dreams must be like. It was E10 that pissed me off more, especially when Angel-no-relation blew off John's confession.

Oh, and they ARE bad people.
