Anthony Anderson and Lawrence Fishburn were pretty hilarious in the pilot. I expected the show to be pretty bad, but was impressed. I feel as though they leaned a little bit too much on the racial stuff in the pilot (to the point that it almost seemed forced), but if they can dial it back just a smidge and bring some great family humor (which it seems this cast is capable of doing), it could be a solid sitcom. I admit, I laughed out loud when the dad showed the Rodney King Riots footage and O.J.'s chase in the white bronco as an idea for a Los Angeles Tourism video.

I watched a little bit of it. It was way too racial for my liking. How the show is not considered racist is beyond me.

That's kinda the point of the show. An affluent, suburban black father with an identity crisis due to seeing his kids not identifying at all with "black" culture.

If they tone down the racist shite it would be a decent show.

His car commercials are funnier than the pilot was.

It's racial, not racist, and pretty funny.

If it was a white family in a black area it would be racist. If it is a black family in a white area it's not racist.

I really enjoyed it. It took a topic that's sensitive to many and not only looked at it from various angles (like the two youngest kids not caring about color and the father's reaction to that) but did so in a humorous manner. I hope it's able to keep that tone and not lean too far one way or another.

how is it racist exactly?
I would love to know, I didn't watch it

So, the fact that his kids don't adhere to the more negative African American stereotypes is a problem for him?
