Somewhere along the way this became one of my top two or three favorite series.

Billy bones is a punk and a traitor. He's a member of flints crew he stayed behind to rescue vane and he failed. Why does he think he has rank over flint all of the sudden? Usually perfectly done but that's a major plot hole put in to create more drama. Didn't like that at all.

Billy has hated Flint for a long time. Especially after the stuff that went down with Gates and the aftermath of his return. It makes a lot of sense that he uses this time to try to take over with Silver "dead" to them.

But they had mended their relationship in season 3. Billy sacrificed himself to keep flint safe when vane was captured. Flint was going to go back for vane and billy insisted on taking his place because flint was too important. Now all of the sudden he's turned on him? Just doesn't make any sense it doesn't connect with where everyone was mentally last season.

I think the situation was one of the few moments Flint was not thinking clearly emotionally because of the potential loss of his friend, and the trap. Billy was definitely keeping him at bay from going off the hinges and making a bad decision that would likely lead to their deaths.

I do agree they have their differences, and it's the reason Billy is on his own path to becoming a prominent captain. Maybe he does hate Flint, and is negating all emotion for the sake of surviving, but I would say he's more indifferent of Flint but respects him either way.

Did I misunderstand or did the Rogers guy state that he took out a bunch of personal loans to fund the war against the pirates? Why the hell would he do that?

Because his creditors bailed on him. He sent word to his wife that he planned to divorce her. In retaliation, his wife's family (who are both wealthy and influential) convinced his biggest creditors to cut him off.

Rogers also ended up doing this in real life, too.

I know that but my question was why would he personally fund the war. How was he going to be repaid?

all good questions, but remember its just episode 1

lets give it some time to play out.

Great first episode. I read on RT where this had 1 negative review and all it said was "the first episode was kind of a bore with no much action." LOL WTF was he watching? I hate critics

I believe he was going to repay his creditors via the profit from the island as its governor.

Dialogue-wise, that episode was one of the more well written TV series episodes I've seen in a long time.
