Did you see the trailer?

I'm being pushed into having to defend Marvel.

This place is a warped mirror universe of what the M/TV used to be.

Where's all the white guys?

And how do you know it will be "shitty to mediocre"?

By watching past comic book movies, the trailer, and using a bit of common sense.

I fricking guarantee that this movie won't get as political (I'm talking race politics) as some are expecting here and this is coming from a conservative Latino dude. You'd think this was a movie about blacks overthrowing white people or a social justice revolt film based on some of the negativity being spewed here. I don't think it will be like that at all. I for one am happy that blacks and whites and others are looking forward to it. Black Panther is one of the coolest comic book superheroes and it's about time a movie be made about him and Wakanda. He's a fun superhero and it's cool to see a bit a mystery around him since not too many know much about his origin story and background. It's cool that the MCU has been setting this up for years.

I don't think people are panning the movie so muhc as they are panning the self-congratulatory reviews.

This board jerks it to Walt's corpse until left-wing politics are injected into his company's films.

Where are you getting your information?

Based on the reviews, that seems to be the villain's motivation. Not the protagonist's.

And haven't even seen the movie. How is this film supposed to be about social justice and "the struggle" when it takes place primarily in a country that the world does not know about and features a main character who is a King.

It's also been firmly established that Black Panther was originally supposed to take on the role that Peter Parker would have played in Civil War had they not been able to acquire that character. Fortunately they didn't have to go that route, but this character was coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe no matter what.

The same people that financed all the other Marvel films.

Do you consider them all "shitty to mediocre"?

Never mind. Apparently you do.

i hope it stays at 100% and sets numerous box office records

the panties that will be gotten into wads will be plentiful and glorious, and that's not even counting the pro-DC crowd.

With all due respect, have you watched it yet to make a statement like this? Were you at an advanced screening? There is no possible way you can say that without watching the movie. I'd say there is a pretty big chance it isn't about that.

what happens to your logic when I tell you that every fricking movie ever invented is probably in some way financed by white people?

So now your view of this film that you have not seen came from a review and is not your own now?

Okay so maybe post the review with the claim it's about social justice (again, in a country hidden from the world) and "the struggle". (Once again, featuring main characters that do not have to worry about this)

No,

Tomato watch threads on big Blockbusters is kind of a thing. Being the president of my fan club I'm surprised you didn't notice.

Amazing how many folks are already discounting this movie, as if any good reviews are pandering.

Black Panther’s character and back story are pretty damn cool, and the two leading actors are pretty good. It’s Marvel, not hard to see why people are loving it.

Or you can just click and read and do your own homework.

It doesn't mean it will suck. Mad Max was full of feminist messages, but I really liked it.
