Why can’t we just enjoy watching a movie anymore?

I am looking forward to BP because 1) it’s a marvel movie 2) I am genuinely interested in Wakanda and their technological prowess 3) I genuinely like Black Panther the hero.

Every fricking thread turns into some political shite show.

Can we just merge this fricking board already?

Anyone seen this yet? Do we have honest reviews?

I'd like to see it, because... Marvel

But I'm not in the mood for messages, uplifting social experiences, or things like that. I want some mainstream superhero mayhem, a shite-ton of gratuitous violence, and generally an overall unassuming fun time.

This studio has a track record of producing 18 straight certified fresh films, but all of a sudden the critics are misleading you about this one

There is a review preview that is nothing but “Black Panther Matters”.

They are calling this a hugely diverse cast with all but 2 being African or African-Americans, meanwhile Dunkirk is whitewashing WW2.

We ain’t politicizing shite. The critics are doing that for us.

I think it’s laughable, but I don’t blame anyone for thinking they are just carrying water. This movie may be great, but can you sit there with a straight face and tell me that if it was a heaping pile of shite that the mainstream critics would say so?

BP is an ok pewee football player. Media is the daddy who tells everyone how good his son is. Movie audience’s message to the daddy/media is “STFU”.

This analogy only works if 1) most agree the movie is average, 2) if you have actually seen the movie, and 3) if you also agree the movie is average.

Well, I’ve stated in a thread about Civil War that I wasn’t a big fan of BP when he didn’t follow through with his revenge.

Ex: The Godfather is at 99%. What lunatic wouldn't recommend that it's worthy of a watch? He should be stripped of his credentials forever.

RT aggregates critic reviews that are as old as the movies.

One of the few negative reviews about The Godfather was a review from the 70s. It was from a critic who didn’t like Brando’s performance. He though it paled in comparison to his earlier roles, and that it basically ruined the movie for him.

I have a buddy who caught an early screening. This is what he told me. He's not a comic book fan, so take it FWIW...

It was cool, typical'Marvel'. No big risks, a lot of predictability. Laughably bad CGI.

Thank you

I'm invested in Marvel at this point, waiting for Infinity War. So if this is building us towards that, then I want to see it.

Otherwise- I'm casually aware of the comic character, could take him or leave him. So it's not a movie I "have" to see on that basis. I'm pretty much filled to the brim with superhero movies, so I'd really rather have a big mindless action blockbuster come from a different genre at this point.

Part of the appeal early in the Marvel run was the presentation of superheroes in an otherwise realistic world, but there's been SO much going on that this world is completely different now. So unless they reboot things somehow (maybe Dr Strange does a time rewind to before Avengers), I'm probably done after Infinity War is complete.

Now GOTG is ok, because that's space fantasy.

I thought it was great, but a lot like what your friend said, especially the CGI part. There was some scenes in the water where the background was just awful

Good flick, but like about half of the Marvel films, not something I'd need to watch a second time
