In a stunning upset, Birdman took home the top prize at the Producers Guild Awards yesterday evening. This comes after Boyhood had started gathering momentum with wins at the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards. The race should become much clearer tonight when the Screen Actors Guild selects its winner for Best Ensemble.

Of course actors are going to love a movie about acting.

Weird. Every single person I've talked to who's seen this movie didn't really like it. I know there are a few on this board, but. . . There's no way it's Best Picture. In fact, I don't think Boyhood should be Best Picture either.

Birdman is a good movie, but I don't think it's good to enough to where it should be winning all of these awards.

Interdasting. I figured Selma might be the film to start gathering late momentum.

I saw it with a buddy of mine, both he and I are pretty into movies in general. And both of us thought the acting was very good but the humor was not. Like we just didn't get all of the hype.
On the other hand, my gf saw it and shes a huge movie nerd and she loved it.
FWIW my favorite movie of this year is the Grand Budapest Hotel

thats part of what irks me about boyhood. i read the hyperbole in a lot of reviews(top 10 all time, best of the decade, etc) and i came away being completely let down.

Birdman was a better movie than Boyhood. I wouldn't mind seeing it win best picture though I don't think it will.

Birdman will win for the same reason Argo did.

I agree, but I thought they were both great.
