I just watched it last night and was not impressed. Am I going against the grain, here?

What were your opinions? Which parts did you like/dislike?

I always felt it's a very underrated film. I can see why some wouldn't like it, though.

I thought it was really good. It's a storyteller telling a story, hence all the exaggerations throughout. His dad had an incredible gift to tell stories and that's how this film was made, through his version of events.

Yep. And it was even filmed near me.

The little town they built for some scenes is still there.

A man tells so many stories he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal.

Agree. Much ado about nothing.

Basically, the guy spends the whole film discovering that his dad was a liar.

Most of it. It's been years since I've seen any of it, but I have no desire to see it again. About the only people I know that like it are people that were in it.

Fail.

The guy always knew his dad was a liar and never understood his dad's propensity to greatly exaggerate the details of his life. The guy spends the whole movie trying to accept his father for who he is before he fricking dies.

Actually I'm disappointed this film isn't regarded as a classic by now.
